Working hard or hardly working?

What’s the right balance between work and non-work time? The traditional 9-5 has slowly disappeared with the emails and zoom and texting going far beyond traditional business hours. We asked members of our community to share with us how they think about work-life balance.

Work-life balance has evolved significantly for me, especially since becoming a mom. Before motherhood, I was able to dedicate long hours to my business without much interruption. While I worked hard, I didn’t fully appreciate the importance of boundaries and intentional rest. Becoming a mom completely shifted my perspective. Balance is a very difficult quality to obtain. To even reach the point where awareness of balance is reached took an eternity for me. Now that I’m conscious of how important balance is in every aspect of my life, I work very diligently to adhere to this state of being. I’ve come to several realizations over time. One is that is you balance your life correctly and you are in tune with this concept, there is time for everything. How easily we just throw time away as the hours of our lives tick by while we complain about never achieving, never seeing, never doing the things we feel will enrich and fulfill our lives. Balance is a hard word to digest when you’re a creative. Usually you learn about balance with experience and nobody teach you this. When i was living in Guatemala i learned to delegate and to release time by making a team capable with the abilities that i developed, in the US i found out that people are more individual and something that’s very hard is to find people that want to do the hard work.
