We had the good fortune of connecting with Stecy Lambert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stecy, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Leogane, Haiti and immigrated to the US at a young age. I grew up with parents that were very hard working. They were always involved in multiple projects and had multiple streams of income. My mom has been a nurse all my life but also owned a popular store in Haiti that she managed for years. My dad worked for Ministère de L’ Intérieur and invested in many local businesses. My parents taught me about integrity, hard work and dedication. “If you want it, you will work for it”! So that’s just what I did. I started a luxury scented candle company, Numa Aroma during the pandemic while working my full time job as a registered nurse. It’s not always easy balancing the two but I am learning over time how to be more proficient with time management. I am learning day by day what it means to be an entrepreneur and the dedication it takes. I credit my parents for my motivation and drive to succeed.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a registered nurse for about 5 years. I currently work as a traveling psychiatric RN. I work mostly with adolescents, but I also work with adults in crisis and the substance abuse population. Graduating nursing school and tackling boards is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do because it was happening during a very tough time in my life. I was trying to stay focus while also grieving the loss of my father whom I was very close to. I’m still not sure how I was able to conquer the NCLex. Being surrounded by loved ones definitely helped during these low points in life. Numa Aroma bears the name of my late father and is greatly influenced by his legacy to enrich the lives of others. Having endured the loss of several loved ones over the past few years, scented candles have always been a sort of refuge and offered me some peace. Scents have been known to affect your mood, I wanted to be a part of that.
My hope for Numa Aroma is that everyone who lights one of these candles will experience a sense of luxury, tranquility, comfort and joy.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Anyone that knows me knows I love food. A week with me would compose of a lot of restaurant dining. A few of my favorite restaurants in the S. FL area include Fern Street, Cucina, The Meat Market, Smith and Wollensky, Spruzzo, Maü and Mastros. Rooftop1Wlo and Sugar for drinks and party. Wynwood for the arts experience. A good spa day is a must and Baia Beach Club is the perfect escape. We can relax at the spa, enjoy the beach and the amazing restaurant on site. I’m not a big club goer but I do love a nice vibe with good music and drinks. When in season Maxwell’s Plum is a great place to eat then party. I would end my week with my friend’s @Flavars for their infamous Call Collect party at Pétanque.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I credit my parents Margarette Rosemond and Emmanuel Lambert for my success. And also my cousin Brithney Joseph who helps me with marketing and day to day operations of Numa Aroma.
