We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Retallack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To start building my own name and to not work for anyone else, and to do whatever I want with my time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a fashion photographer from Colombia, based in Mexico City. My work brings an editorial eye to every shoot, creating dynamic and sophisticated images, my work communicates a strong point of view without sacrificing broad appeal.

Being a freelance photographer is never easy as you have to find clients and work with different teams on a regular basis. But that becomes the main attraction in the industry, as you always meet new people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I will definitely go to the beach, go to museums, art galleries and some local stores. Wynwood and Brickell will be good spots to hang out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
at this moment in my life and good shout out should be to everyone that has worked with me and to trust my vision with their brand and/or their work. There is no one specific as everyone has contributed to make me become the professional I am now.
