Meet Florian Kohler | Professional Pool Trick Shot Artist!

We had the good fortune of connecting with Florian Kohler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Florian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Hard to describe as it really is an organic process. I really just started by doing a few trick shots here but never thought this could become a business. From small exhibitions to tournament it then become apparent something was doable so opened a small company in France before moving to the USA and really taking it to the next level!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’d say pool trick shots is definitely at the crossroad of sport and hard. On one hand you have to perform in a professional setting , make the shots in a certain way and execute them right but on the other hand a pool table to me is like a blank canva where I am free to create what I want. This really is my favorite part and I can say that what I am the most proud off really isn’t the world titles or record but the fact that I created more than 1,000 new shots!

I believe this is really what set me apart from the competition as anyone with the drive can complete the shots but inventing them is a whole different story!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Las Vegas makes it a little easier than anywhere else. I absolutely love the city but not necessarily because of the casino and the nightlife but because really you can find anything that suits your needs there. The outdoor however is absolutely underrated and some of the best in the country. Itinerary could be as follow;

9am 12pm – Valley of Fire State Park for an out of this world feeling and breathtaking landscape
12p-2pm- Lunch in a restaurant, so many to chose from!
2pm – 6pm – Walk the strip and visit some of the casino
6pm – 9pm – Dinner on Top of the Rio hotel for an amazing view of the city
9pm onward – By now you would be exhausted but a drink in bar followed by a visit at the XS nightclub in the Encore casino would make for a perfect ending!

I didn’t quite have a mentor but must credit a few other trick shot artists who inspired my journey such as Mike Massey, Tom Rossman & Semih Sayginer.
