We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanae, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is the probability that an outcome will change due to action or inaction. I see risks as opportunities to change the outcome for a greater result/reward. I’ve always been comfortable taking risks for as long as I can remember, and the more risks I took, the more comfortable I became with trusting myself to take the right risks. Risk-taking plays a significant role in my life. While I’m not ready to say goodbye to my 9-5 just yet, I have had to take risks to balance my career and travel brand.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started my travel brand ‘Naetravels’ two years ago while I was in university. Initially it started as an outlet for me to share my travel adventures with family and friends, but over time, it has become a travel resource for many. I guess I was surprised to find out that many people are not comfortable travelling or travel planning because of a lack of information. Naetravels is a travel brand where I share my travel experiences to not only inspire others to travel but also to help them travel with confidence. This includes tips, guides and itineraries.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would love to take my friends on tour around my hometown, Nassau, Bahamas. We’ll start the trip in the downtown area, exploring several historical sites while learning about the history of The Bahamas. We’ll grab food at Arawak Cay, which is a great introduction to various local Bahamian cuisines. Being that the Bahamas is an archipelago, island hopping is a must! I would love to take them on a boat ride to the island of Exuma and end the trip exploring popular hotels like The Atlantis and Baha Mar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my mommy and sister ! I am so grateful for the unwavering support of my family throughout every area of my life. They have always given me the freedom to create the life I wanted and supported every idea, dream and goal. Thank you sometimes is not simply enough.
