We had the good fortune of connecting with MARK LEWANSKI and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MARK, what’s your definition for success?
A wise uncle once told me success was setting goals for yourself and then achieving them. I’ve stuck with this definition ever since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I left an engineering job 25 years ago to set out on my own as an independent artist. Best decision I ever made! Entrepreneurship takes the right kind of personality, years of hard work, ability to manage stress and handle risk without fear. My art is glass weaving, and is very challenging. I won $100,000 top award at Artprize last year for my piece, “Arras”, a great honor and culmination of years of hard work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My town, Portland, MI is one of the best kept secrets in Michigan, beautiful riverside dining, parks galore, lots of outdoor activities. I’d do the local thing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My God gave me life and talents to use, my wife, kids and I make a great team.
