Meet Gregory d’Incelli | Crypto Fund Manager | Co-Founder Scenius Capital | Former Litigator “

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory d’Incelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gregory, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Definitely being multilingual. I am a firm believer in the importance of language and am convinced that speaking multiple languages is a huge asset. As the proud Papa of two young girls—Esmeralda (5) and Sabine (15 months)—this is an asset I’ve always wanted to impart to them from birth. I grew up in New York speaking only French to my two French parents and much of my family. I am also fairly proficient in several other languages. This has opened many doors for me and been a huge value-add in my life. I now speak to both of my daughters exclusively in French. Even at their young ages, I can see and feel the enormous benefits to them of being multilingual. I see it improving their cognitive abilities as they are challenged to learn to process, understand, and form words, sentences, and meanings using different language structures. This builds confidence and naturally opens their eyes to differences and other cultures. It also will provide fertile future opportunities with regard to their ability to travel, develop relationships, and boost their career prospects.

What should our readers know about your business?
After 13 years as a practicing lawyer and litigator in Miami, I left the active practice of law and made a major career pivot to professional asset management. For years I had been an investor in crypto and was passionate about the space and the disruptive potential of the asset class and underlying blockchain technology. When Covid pulled forward the obvious trend to Web3 and decentralization, the opportunity to turn a passion into a profession presented itself. In late 2020, my co-founders and I saw an opportunity to capitalize on the nascency of the crypto markets and create a turnkey investment solution for sophisticated investors looking to invest into actively managed solutions (hedge and venture capital funds). Scenius Capital was founded on the long-term thesis that crypto as an asset class is poised to grow exponentially and will create generational opportunity along the way for those positioned to take advantage. Scenius is an investment firm optimized for this opportunity. We specialize in fund-of-funds strategies and provide curated access to best-in-class crypto and blockchain technology opportunities. We currently have one open fund of hedge funds with a growing record of relative outperformance and are launching a fund of venture capital funds before the end of 2022. We operate out of the U.S., but invest globally on behalf of a diverse and international investor base.
Investing in crypto is not for everyone. Crypto markets are complex, fragmented, open 24/7, and volatile. We believe a multi-manager strategy like ours is ideal for managing capital during both bearish and more bullish economic regimes. While crypto is not for everyone, these challenges and the huge potential risk/reward excite us at Scenius. As one of the few multi-strategy crypto fund of funds in the world we believe our model is perfectly suited for the opportunity and that we are poised to rise to the occasion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I moved here in 2005 and I’m blown away by how much Miami has changed in that time. It’s incredible. I’m all about cool experiences and spending quality time because those shared experience enrich life. For what it’s worth, I’m not afraid to be a homebody and some of my best times are definitely spent in the backyard swimming in our pool with my kids and family grilling out.
That said, with my best friend here for a week there would definitely be a focus on eating delicious food and activities. A few necessary stops would be the Salty Donut (I’m a bit obsessed) followed by some walking around Wynwood, a stop by Wynwood Walls, and into the Museum of Graffiti. Not far from there is Coyo Taco, a local spot I really enjoy eating at. There are good bars in that area, so we would definitely pop into one or two for a drink. Exploring Brickell a little would need to be on the agenda. It’s exploded into its own vibrant little city since I lived there just 6 years ago, and has tons of new quality restaurants we could try. We would definitely get a drink at Sugar on the roof of the East Hotel and from there maybe head towards Calle Ocho for a drink at Ball n Chain or a treat at Versailles bakery.
We would also make our way to South Beach to walk around Lincoln before heading South of 5th for a quick stop by the takeaway at Joe’s Stone Crab to eat while walking on iconic Ocean Ave. For a laugh, we might catch a drink and a show at Mangos. At some point there would be some beach time, some beach volley ball or maybe paddle, and we would try to wrap up the evening at Smith & Wollensky for a sunset.
For family time with the kids, we would probably make our way to the Miami Children’s Museum, Jungle Island, and Frost Science at some point. They all are awesome to explore and learn in the process. For a more immersive wildlife experience, we might even drive up to Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee where you can drive amongst lions, rhinos and ostriches to name a few. Pretty unreal experience I haven’t had anywhere else.
Lastly, I’m an avid Pickleball player, so we would definitely mix it up on the Pickleball court at least a few times.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many since I’m a product of rich life experiences, an awesome family, and great friends. If I had to pick one person to shoutout though, it would definitely be my wife Kirstin, or Kikster as I call her. She’s a force of nature and a pinnacle of perseverance, work ethic, love, and patience. When confronted with personal health obstacles that would have been daunting and overwhelming to others, she didn’t just overcome them, she turned them into her own success stories and positive career catalysts. She’s a determined career woman blazing an impressive career in genetics and precision oncology and a more impressive mother, who manages to run our boisterous household and juggle our lives simultaneously. I’m especially thankful for her support as I pivoted my career from a practicing lawyer to entrepreneur launching my own business and becoming a full-time fund manager at Scenius Capital, a thriving crypto fund.
