We had the good fortune of connecting with Danijela Burzan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danijela, how do you think about risk?
I view risk as potential for growth, advancement, and opportunity. As humans we always tend to think within boundaries of comfort, because our biology is created to give us impulses in order to keep us safe from danger. For instance, survival in wildlife in primordial times and today where most of us have very few things to fear from, we doubt our personal potential and consume collective fear trough global media, causing our own anxiety to growth, which paralyzes us in taking certain steps/risks for our personal advancement. Taking risk means different for everyone. Currently, I don’t think of risk as something dangerous, moreover as a chance to learn something new, realm of possibilities. Depending on our upbringing, beliefs, and comfort zones we have different tasks in overcoming personal limitations in order to truly express the full potential that each of us carries. That overcoming is series of risks we take throughout life, unconsciously until certain age and then consciously, acknowledging our courage and facing the fear of whatever is next on our journey toward fulfillment and joyful life. Risk represents the unknown, meaning we cannot predict the outcome; therefore we choose to stay within the comfort of known and live the same life repedately. The unknown will feel uncomfortable to our rational mind, but that’s exactly where the growth begins. What I came to realize is that life will push you to stretch your beliefs of what you thought was possible and rational, and that’s why having trust in the process of life and creation is essential. Nothing new was ever created from the sameness. Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment. Don’t be afraid to walk your path because we never loose, we either win or we learn, and being at ease with not knowing is crucial for the answers to come to you. Those answers usually come in the form of synchronistic events, how Carl Jung would called them, which I used to believe were coincidences. Looking back now, moving to another continent, faced with completely different reality, culture, circumstances, language was the biggest risk I ever took. At the time I didn’t think of it as one because I followed my heart, giving the love I found time to evolve. Such a change is a complete shock to your being, separation from your identity. At that time everything was unknown for me and it was very uncomfortable. This forced me go within, to listen, observe, and learn. I listened to many great teachers, gained knowledge about how life works, clearer understanding of reality, our part in creation, human potential. I believe that this process defined more of who I am and helped me create my own style of beautiful semi precious jewelry, which energetically had huge impact on my expanding awareness. Risk is change and change is life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My dominant work is macrame style of jewelry with different kind of crystal and mineral formations. This authentic style of jewelry making was born with my first purchase of Amethyst geodes. Love at first sight of my friend Ena for these geodes, during our first joint visit to crystal shop, initiated raw crystals into my jewelry. “This is so gorgeous! You must make something with it”, she said and my creative mind went for a spin for the new idea. Majority of my jewelry is unique, especially bigger macrame pieces. This large macrame necklace that I’m wearing harmonizes the intention of ancient goddess big collar necklaces, full of wisdom and glory, with more earthy sound to it, braided with the cord around the geodes and different kind of semi precious stones, showcasing its true beauty and uniqueness. It’s the new age goddess design! My style of macrame jewelry is innovative, authentic in design, and craftsmanship. The reason I enjoy creating one of kind pieces is because I constantly have ideas flooding my mind, and they start as soon as I pick a gemstone that I want to work with. There is endless inspiration whether I am co-creating with a customer or producing my own idea. Crystals and different mineral formations are DNA of our planet, and with a certain energy that they carry they interact with our own electromagnetic field of the body, transferring the information for better ways to evolve or attract certain things. My desire is to initiate purest energetic potential of these gems in order to activate that potential in human energy body. I like to explore different materials and techniques, such as clay, resin, and incorporate them into one of kind pieces. Long lasting and hight quality product is my mission when creating and that’s what my customers recognize and appreciate. Semi precious stones have been used for healing purposes and reaching higher levels of conciseness since ancient times trough many cultures, which inspired me to merge something so old and wise in my own way. I’m very proud of all of my pieces created and also excited to see my artistry evolve into different spheres of design, being that I already started creating one of kind bohemian jumpsuits. Any challenges of creative nature were always easily resolved for me, unlike my business challenges that I got to learn in order to present my work to the public. I’m changing the perspective on those things now, but that remains still my favorite matter to procrastinate on. We mature for certain lessons in life when we are more open to receive the information and evolve from current state of being; therefore I’m embracing the challenges because they will improve some part of me.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
What made me fall in love with this city is such a big presence of nature in urban city, parks, tropical gardens. Beach and the ocean are big love, because I grew up on the Mediterranean coast, as is diversity of people and culture. These are probably not the first things when people think of Miami, but you get more of it by not just visiting clubs. My few favorite places would be Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Fairchild Botanical Garden, Key Biscayne, Key West,Frost Museum, Boat rides, Wynwood, Upper BuenaVista, Broken Shaker, La Folie.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Joe Dispenza, Gregg Braden, Bruce Lipton, Esther Hicks, Marisa Peer, Sadhguru, Eckhart Tolle
