We had the good fortune of connecting with Junior Bautista-Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Junior, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Originally UNCULTURED was an idea to show case the different personas in this world through fashion and I already knew I wanted to do something with photography so at this point it was planning what I wanted then taking action on what I must to achieve my goal.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing I’m proudest of is my art. You could argue and say all I’m doing is clicking a button, but I enjoy having to create a persona by using expressions and clothing to paint the model. If I were to die and the longest people would remember me is 2 weeks then I’ve yet to achieve my goal, I wouldn’t say it’s the easiest path as I’ve struggled with being consistent let alone making money. Although it could be said that’s on me. Which is the biggest lesson I’ve learned.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I could take anyone anywhere it’d either have to be the beach at night during a full moon to light up the abyss we live in and a roller coaster, to get that adrenaline rush of being alive, well actually I wouldn’t want to spend 20-60min waiting in line so driving down the interstate at a high speed with your favorite music blasting is really great.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t really have anybody to thank aside from family, but does that really count? They’ll always love and support you no matter what. I lied, David Carvajal and Kanye West Scratch that YE are people I’d like to thank as David has helped a lot with the practicality of photography, especially colours, and Ye for inspiring me to chase my passion rather than to do what the majority says. I understand there’s controversy with Ye but that doesn’t change anything.
