Meet Oriana Armand | Painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Oriana Armand and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oriana, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I am passionate about the world of literature. When I was twenty, I decided to build my library with a few of my admired authors.
A lot of times you may get answers about life in books, so I always try to consult them.
I can’t pick a favorite phrase, because I’ve read a lot that have left an impression on me.
“The works are half finished when they have started well.” -Séneca.
A proverb that reminds me that I always have to start things well in order for things to end well: On a canvas, in love, in daily life, always following my heart.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art are covers of my life, maybe some reflection of what I live, it is very unconscious. I never prepare sketches of what I paint, I only capture what comes to my mind or what my hands trace, I just let the art flow, that’s why I enjoy the process so much because it’s a catharsis. My pieces have many emotions some hide secrets, maybe a good eye can be witnessed. However, I do not like to talk about symbologies, I prefer everything to be to the eye of the viewer, leave everything to their imagination, there are many reflections of my valid pieces and full of senses … For me my paintings are life, you can spend hours looking at them and get lost in them, leading you to reflection.
The way to art is a lucky break. To achieve this you must not give up, you must trust yourself and be constant.
I come from Venezuela, a beautiful country but full of challenges because of its difficult situation, a situation which made me take other directions, Argentina and Miami. Miami is a beautiful and special location with many possibilities, where I begin my passion for painting. An internal search to find out who I was. In addition to going through a difficult moment, because I was away from all my family, I needed to connect to something real, to feel human again. The painting did, it took over me

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In my itinerary I would add: outdoor spaces; Isla Morada, Key West, Bahia Honda.
Perez Art Museum for entertainment.
Places; Marion, to enjoy the night. Toscana Divino, for a delicious signature dinner. J.W.B. for a good beer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Many people along this path deserve recognition, starting with my Mother who in my childhood trusted me for big projects. Then my partner Sebastian, who has always driven me to follow my artistic path and our experiences have been a muse for my creations. Then people and galleries appeared on my path, who trusted me and worked hard to support me. I also have a wonderful audience.
