We had the good fortune of connecting with Chitarra Monroe Chimere Cokley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chitarra Monroe, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Different people have different interests in life. There are some people who like to manage things and they are excellent in that.; and then you have people who like the whole idea of creating something from scratch and watching it grow and provide value to people. Well Chitarra Monroe and Chimere Cokley of 2Sisters with 1 mind are the ones that like to create from scratch and watch it grow. So to answer your question, the thought process was very simple.. After watching so many others not being passionate about the quality of food, décor or loving the task of making their clients happy. We decided to thrive off of giving the passion of our talents to every client we come in contact with. It’s what excites and motivates us. It’s like a video game where you are creating and building your base and that is exactly why we’ve never felt like it is work but as something that we enjoy doing.

What should our readers know about your business?
No!!!! it has not been a smooth road at all. Have you been in a space where you know that all you need is one chance to show someone that your the right team for the job but, it’s hard to convince them. Well, that was us. The beginning was a task at hand by building trust, support and determination. Clients doesn’t just come to you. You have to work hard at it. Not every table at your pop-up event will be filled. You must keep striving and know that with every great detail of your hard work, it will pay off. Every tickets to your event will be sold out. Never lose sight of your vision because of the lack of support. We’ve learned through our struggles that God moves when he is ready, not when we ask him to. Being obedient has shown us that our clientele has picked up and it has been steady. . Never give up, be patient and watch your blessings overflow. Our brand is to cook from the heart to feed your soul and decorate from our eyes to your heart.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s a lot of great spots in Miami for fun and food. If I had friend to visit I’ll take them to South Beach, Wynwood, Midtown, all of our malls, and not to be selfish and say dining with 2Sisterswith1mind or Dymonds Catering. We would take them to El Tucan. In my opinion, we have a lot of great musesums that showcases Miami pioneers and so much more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A Cancer diagnosis can turn someone’s life upside down but, for Chitarra Monroe and Chimere Cokley that wasn’t the case at all. These two young ladies were brought together through this battle with Cancer.

While Chimere is in remission now; Chitarra is still fighting the battle. God lead Chimere to Chitarra. He would not let Chimere go another day without having a conversation that lead these two young ladies to the amazing walk of life in sisterhood, business and kicking Cancer butt.
