Hi Brian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
gethiredmiami. 100% FREE Resumes. The story began over a weekend in 2015. Let me share my expertise and unique perspective on embracing FREE cloud-based technology with the goal of improving lives through employment.

gethiredmiami is a 💯% FREE resource and tool being offered to select organizations and their members that have the desire to become gainfully employed. Our goal ― improving lives through employment.™ Nothing more.

Being a parent of teenagers, I realized the need to show a model of giving back ― not only the focus on building one’s own business or attempts to obtain tangible, material wealth… especially here in Miami. Medical volunteering was the obvious choice for me, but concerns of malpractice limited that direction.

It is a story about gethiredmiami ― a 100% FREE tool ― spontaneously created thinking of veterans returning from tours in Iraq. It is based on engaging intuitive skills that many of us take for granted and providing individuals from select organizations (i.e. veterans, homeless, foster youth, incarcerated persons, for example) the means to simply create a resume from any platform, and have it reviewed, edited and enhanced…all for FREE.

Why this need? As a business owner, I know firsthand the value of a typo-free resume. Three out of four [around 76 percent of] executives interviewed said just one or two typos in a resume would remove applicants from consideration for a job; 40 percent said it takes only one typo to rule candidates out. What should our readers know about your business?
I wear many “hats” in addition to being the Founder and Executive Director of gethiredmiami. Yet, I remain strongly committed to gethiredmiami and our mission of “Improving lives through employment.™ Nothing more.”

Some of these “hats” are being a Gastroenterologist in private practice since 2005 after completing my fellowship training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For me — I am extremely content on the walking beach path in Surfside. I don’t need much. Simple nature. Therein lies true beauty.

Yes, Wynwood, Design District, Key Biscayne, are all amazing places to see, not to mention all the great hotels in Miami — like the Mandarin Oriental — but in the end, take me to a quiet sunset on the water.

At present we have an active gethiredmiami Outreach Team in addition to an active group of engaged interns and volunteers. At the core of our Outreach Team’s success are two individuals that deserve mention—Augusto Oliveira of EY (Ernst & Young) and Sam Goodman of McDermott Will & Emery LLP.
