We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Liliana Uribe, LCSW and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Liliana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

Risks have always been something that I have never been comfortable with. I tend to be more on the conservative side when deciding on big risks, especially financially.

After months of feeling desperate for a change while working as an analyst for children on the spectrum, I decided to take a leap of faith in myself. I quickly realized my fear of risks was associated with my confidence in my capabilities and capacity to create the vision I had for my career.

I had to believe in myself to push down the fear of change and failure. Fear is what often keeps people from doing what they believe would be best for them, especially if it involves risks. People often make decisions based on fear rather than logic. This is something I try to help my clients understand and to change how they are perceiving the fear- I help them view fear as more of a protection to keep them from making those very mistakes they fear.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I launched my private practice in January 2020. While COVID has been a continuous nightmare, I opened my practice during a time of uncertainty and served a crucial part of the ever growing mental health needs of our country.

In 2021, I partnered with NeoMedicine Institute in providing ketamine assisted psycho therapy. I learned about ketamine infusions for mental health when my husband’s mental health status rapidly declined post COVID-a reality of many of my clients. After seeing a transformation in his mental thought processes, I quickly realized this was going to change the lives of so many who have been struggling with mental health challenges and who have been resistant to traditional pharmaceutical interventions.

I began to research and seek trainings on my own while at the same time I meet an anesthesiologist who had also been researching the benefits of such therapy.

Today, I currently provide psychotherapy services alongside 5 mastered level clinicians in addition to servicing clients who are seeking ketamine infusion assisted therapy.

Most of the challenges we see in practice are related to stress, work-life balance challenges, anxiety, depression, and self image/esteem challenges.

My clients often tell me that when in session they feel like I am a friend but with a professional tone. My clients very early on report they feel comfortable and trusting, which is key in the healing process. I feel this is what sets me apart- I truly feel the pain and struggle of my clients and have a human desire to see them grow and evolve!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Living in Miami, there are endless things to do- but make sure your pockets are deep!

Depending on the time of year the beach will be one of the main spots! South beach is notorious for tourists and shows you a side of Miami that is intoxicating and filled with energy! The art district and Wynwood has became a staple of the culture in Miami and the talent that lives in the city. Brickell and downtown Miami is filled with roof top lounges and electrifies at night with sophistication and class! Restaurants for days, brunch is a must on the weekends that mirror the daytime club lounges in Vegas!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been blessed to have the biggest support system! My husband has been my biggest cheerleader and has continued to push me forward no matter the doubt. My mother is my role model who taught me resilience, to keep rising up no matter how low we may fall. She is truly my best friend. My sister in law who I saw grow up and is now a successful licensed clinical social worker joining me in my journey in private practice and ketamine assisted psycho therapy.
