We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcia Villiers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My vision was to carve out a space in the Event Industry as a Black female entrepreneur where I can showcase my talents and creativity, reshape thought processes, and offer exceptional client experiences. There are not a lot of Black people in this area and I felt, and still feel, that good representation is key. I am a firm believer in customer service and the principle that every touch point matters. When clients meet with us, their remarks are often, “thank you, that was refreshing, you listened, and you understood.” Hearing their heartfelt words drives us to continue giving our clients a first class experience, and that’s something we are truly passionate about. One would hope that a great client experience is a universal thing, but it’s such a rare, and valuable, occurrence today. Our goal is to remain vigilant as we have been over the past 15 years and remember our “Why”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Creating beautiful floral designs is my art, love, and passion! I love mixing elements and creating a bit of eclecticism in my work, never liking the look to be too monotonous. I like thinking of ourselves as floral storytellers, meaning that movement and rhythm in our designs are key. That moment when something extra catches the eye from one layer to the next we know a great conversation is about to be had. We are proud of our long standing community relationships! Getting to where we are today took a lot of late nights and early mornings. It’s true that if you are committed to success and are disciplined, focused, and determined enough, you can make it happen. A defining feature of my brand that echoes across all our platforms is consistency. Consistently showing up and doing great work, making each event better than the last. It’s like a crescendo that builds and builds… designing is like finding your greatest notes to create the greatest harmony.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Check in on Sunday at the Margaritaville Hollywood…can I go now? Their Margaritas are to die for….. Monday we would take a 4-hour drive to Key West and grab a bite just in time at “DJ’s Clamshack”. Later on, we would most definitely have a photo op at the iconic Southernmost Point – 90 miles to Cuba landmark, very conveniently located next to the Southernmost Beach Resort. Some foot tracking on Duval Street, another must to the Key Lime Pie Eating contest. Truth be told, NY’s Hotdog eating contest has nothing on this!! We head back to Margaritaville on Wednesday for more to-die-for margaritas, tacos, street corn, and music on the boardwalk. Thursday afternoon would consist of a quick trip to Wynwood Walls, leaving the evening free for Phantom of the Opera at the Kravis Centre in West Palm Beach. On Friday, there is nowhere else but Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach for some scenic art viewing before heading over to City Oyster and Sushi Bar… cocktails on me!! Just chilling all day Saturday at the License to Chill pool deck at the Ville, (those margaritas areaddictive!)!! Finally, we’d close with Sunday Farewells! Until our next adventure, friend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a wonderful family support system to whom I am very grateful. When I have long, 16-hour days, it is great to know that the work and effort that goes into building a successful, accomplished business is appreciated and celebrated. From our multiple Best of Weddings wins and numerous features in press articles, my family comes together to appreciate and celebrate all my business endeavors. My favourite industry groups are NACE and The Engage! Summit, and I can say confidently that they provide two of the greatest event industry experiences out there! Someone is always ready and available to assist and point you in the right direction, and I truly enjoy my relationship with both organizations.
