Meet Sophia Linares | Personal Acro/Tumble Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Linares and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sophia, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is the love. Growing up my parents instilled on me that when you love your job, the success will come easily, and they were right. Love is a very powerful concept and when you are doing what you love, the happiness comes naturally. The foundation of my company was built on my love for cheer and dance, and wanting to be apart of helping someone else find their talents and achieve their dreams of being a cheerleader or a dancer. I love each and every single one of my students that I teach and watching them achieve their skill and watching their face light up after all the hard work they’ve put in, shows me how this is not only something I love doing, but how I am so lucky to be apart of that for them, and it shows me why I do what I do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a little different then most small businesses. Most small businesses sell stuff such as shirts, cookies, etc. I was extremely worried about creating my business because I did not think it was something people were going to really want and look for as they do with shirts and other things. My business is a transporting tumbling/acro class, in other words, I travel to my students houses and teach them private lessons to kids who want to learn flips, flexibility, and overall improve their skills. Growing up being a cheerleader and dancer, I felt like there was no way to improve your skills other than practicing with your coach at the studio/gym alongside 10+ other girls. I was terrified to try any flips or tricks outside my coach because what if I fell? I began coaching a squad in 2019 ,but Covid had happened. Once everything started getting back to normal, I had taught privates with a company beforehand however the distance as to where I was working and live was not working out, and I had so many ideas and so much stuff that I had dreamed of doing in my own life with coaching that I knew I had to leave that company. I am now coaching a cheer squad and now have opened my own transporting tumbling business on my own and am happier than ever. Many people have told me I have a “gift” with children ,but I think it is just an understanding and comfort level they feel with me. I try to gain their trust before anything else and get to know them. So many of my friends and family encouraged me to go off and do this on my own and eventually I did. I love working with my students and I love seeing the growth and potential each one brings to the table. The most rewarding thing about my business is being able to help find a child’s spark. I am so proud at how far I’ve come in only 3 months of beginning my business and I have so many goals and ideas for plans to come. If there’s anything I have learned and any advice I can give it’d be to do what makes you happy. I was so worried and focused on doing what people wanted me too that I never took the time to sit back and think what made me happy. My job doesn’t feel like a job, it feels more like a reward. I encourage you to not be afraid to do what you love and do not be afraid to start your own thing. YOU CAN DO IT!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Miami, Florida so definitely a lot to do down here!
First things first, We’d definitely hit the beach! Im a huge beach girl so hanging out at the beach in Key Biscayne where it over looks Downtown would be ideal. When were not at the beach, definitely shopping at Brickell City Centre or Aventura Mall is definitely the way to go. They have the best stores and are just great spots to hangout and walk around Some places to eat that we’d definitely hit are for brunch, Greenstreet Cafe, Dolores but You Can Call Me Lolita, and RHouse Miami. Some restaurants for dinner would be Joeys, Barsecco, and Komodo. Now, of course, Miami is famous for the nightlife, so hitting Daer Nightclub is a must and so is Story and Mr. Jones in South Beach. It’d be such a fun weekend!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To begin with, their are so many people I owe a HUGE thank you to and that I owe my beginning success to,
To my students and their parents, past, present, and future. Thank you for trusting me with your child and for giving me the chance to work with her/him. Your child and you have not only impacted my business, but impacted my life and become a part of it. You are my ACRO family and I am forever grateful for you all!
To my friends and family, Thank you for your constant support and love. You all told me to go do my thing and without your encouragement, I would have never created what I did. You are all so amazing and I love you all!
To Nick. You are the reason I have begun this adventure. Countless days and nights about talking to you about creating my own business with goals and ideas for this, and you helped me make it come true. You believed in me, when I didn’t believe in myself and you continue to uplift me and constantly show me support when I feel like I have none. I could not have done this without you. I love you so much!
