We had the good fortune of connecting with Issac Baldizon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Issac, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I’ve occasionally wondered if my pursuit is a selfish ambition and if I’m really giving back to the world, Not sure if it makes sense but I’ve attempted to merge both by pushing myself to cover an event to the best of my abilities, in this day and age if I achieve that I’ll capture a moment that will allow the community and maybe the world to witness said moment the way I did. If I achieve that then I could comfortably say that I’m giving back. Additionally I am often approached and asked questions about the trade and career which gives me the opportunity to give back in a one on one way. That gives me a lot of solace knowing that I’m giving back to the world and my community, which I’m very proud of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my relentless pursuit of perfection. Friends who know me at work and outside of work know that who I am in one is the polar opposite of who I am in the other. That is due to my need to be singularly focused at work and having no time for anything else. Once I check in for work I don’t hold casual conversations, I don’t waste time. I do my job, I check and double check all my systems and I position myself to be able to capture an incredible moment. That intensity is a result of having learned from experiences and having fallen on my face. After going through those moments I chose to never allow that mistake to happen again and created a system to do just that. Having gone through that I learned that to achieve great things you have to prepare for great things, and that only gives you a chance at greatness as you still have to execute when the moment comes.
The world should know that what most mentors say is true, “you have to put in the work”. As a child I didn’t understand why I kept hearing that and similar messages. It wasn’t until I learned to fall in love with the process that I realized what that meant. Putting in the work is only the start but without it…
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start a day at Crandon Park before the crowds get there then head to Little Havana for a walk. Grab a bite at La Carreta or Versailles, whichever has a smaller line. After that everyone wants to go to South Beach so a quick cruise down Ocean Drive then catch sunset and a drink at The Standard. I’d say watch a Heat game at the arena but that would mean I’d have to work so hopefully they’re out of town and I could watch the game at Mike’s At Venetia. The next day head to Islamorada for the day, stay at the Key Largo Marriott and hang at the pool. A few hours before sunset I’d head to Morada Bay for dinner and sunset. Then back to the pool. Try it, you’ll love it.
The following day you’ll have to take your guests to a mall because few people leave Miami without shopping. Bal Harbor, Dolphin…any will do and that day will be spent in the mall. It has happened more times than I can count.
The last day I’m kicking them out haha, that is a perfect weekend trip in my opinion.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father gave me my photography foundation. From the knowledge of photography to the passion for photography, were it not for him I would not be where I am. He gave me the books to learn from and how to push myself within the trade. I’ve taken that foundation and built on it to have my own style and eye but it is only because the foundation is as strong as it is.
