We had the good fortune of connecting with Eneisy Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eneisy, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The habits that have helped me succeed are discipline and consistency. I think these two habits are pivotal in being successful in life. I push myself every day. Some days as we all know are harder than others or we don’t have as much energy or motivation. But working towards your goals during those days is the most rewarding. When I have put aside the excuses and put in the work during those tough days, I have been able to master the art of discipline and consistency.

.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am currently a middle school teacher for a Charter school in the Miami-Dade Public Schools system. I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Intensive Math. Some topics that I cover are Algebra, Geometry, Linear Equations, Statistics and Probability, just to name a few. Prior to transitioning into Middle School, I used to teach 2nd and 3rd grade. Before being in the classroom, I used to work in higher education as an Admissions Advisor for a university’s Athletics department. Education hasn’t been the easiest career path but is one that I love dearly and which holds a special part of my heart. I love the impact that I am able to make on the younger generations every day I go to work. Teaching is more than just textbooks and exams. I am able to be a role model. I teach my students valuable life lessons that they are able to take with them every time they leave my classroom at the end of the school year.

Last year, I was also working for the Miami Marlins as a hostess in the PNC club area of the ballpark. I just wrapped up my 3rd season with the MLB team. I love working in sports throughout the school year and/or during the summer when I am on break.

I think something that sets me apart from others is that I would describe myself as a very unique person with many passions. Besides my love for education, I am extremely passionate about sports, dance, fashion, the arts, languages and books.

I am also currently working on a project for this year. I going to be publishing my first book before the end of this year. In 2022, I decided that I wanted to tell my story to the world with the purpose of inspiring others. This book is a memoir on grief and the battles that I have had to face after losing a mother figure at 16 years old. This book speaks on the adversities that I have faced throughout my life that have shaped me into the woman I am today. These bumps on the road have helped me build character, acknowledge my strength and change my outlook on life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

If my best friend was visiting the area for a week these are some places I would take her to. One of the days, we would wake up bright and early to catch the sunrise and then go to my favorite South Florida beach, Haulover Beach Park. There we would soak up some rays throughout the day. I absolutely love the clear water, the beautiful seashells and the peaceful environment. I truly enjoy how you can see so many school of fish, manatees and other sea creatures there.

For another day of the week, I would stop by Oléta Park to bike, kayak and enjoy a picnic by the water. This park has stunning, gorgeous trails and is a lovely spot to spend the afternoon or evening. In the evening we will definitely grab a beer and bite at one of my favorite sports bars, Flanigans.

Since I love sports, I would definitely take her to a sporting event that week that she is visiting. We would either watch the Miami Heat, Miami Marlins, Dolphins, Inter Miami or the Florida Panthers. We will also go take a dance class together.

I would love to enjoy some time reading and drinking wine at Books and Books in Coral Gables. It’s one of my favorite places to go read and study.

One of the mornings or early afternoons we would spend some hours playing pick-up basketball at LA Fitness or at any outdoor parks.

Another day we would go to a boxing class in the a.m. and then grab some brunch. After brunch we would stop for some coffee at a super cool café in the North Miami Beach area that I love called, The Alchemist Cafe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wish to dedicate this shoutout to my family, friends, colleagues, teachers and any person that has been a part of my journey. I feel blessed to have people in my life that have pushed me to higher heights. Sometimes others have seen a potential in me, that I have not necessarily seen in myself. I am eternally appreciative of those individuals that have loved me unconditionally and have supported me along the way through the highs and the low moments of my life. All words of encouragement, love and support I have received do not go unnoticed. I cherish each and every one of them. A special thanks goes to all my best friends for the love and support they show me every single day.
