We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Dorsett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am a lover of art, accessories, and crystals. I thought it would be pretty cool to sell small unique and flashy accessories. Little flashy things make people happy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This all started back in 2018 when I bought a bunch of crystals and chose to create random pieces. I had no idea how to apply crystals to anything. So I watched a bunch of youtube videos and purchased a class from the Crystal Ninja. In her class, she taught everyone how to purchase crystals, what size to use, and what glues to purchase. It wasn’t always easy, I still work a full-time job and had a family to take care of. I learned to pace myself and take notes along with prioritizing things I had to do with the family. Then I started selling blinged badge reels at work. I was proud that everyone loved my creativity, so I decided to create a website to sell my pieces nationwide. Ultimately, the goal was to grow my business while living life. I made sure to invest in my knowledge and apply it to my business. That is something that I will continue to do. I am a lover of all things creative and unique. I take tiny trinkets that have little to no value and create something memorable, fashionable, and flashy. I am proud of how far my business has come yet remain committed to pushing the bar every day and my collections are carefully hand-crafted. As I continue on this journey, I advised anyone who is a business owner to stay consistent. Consistency is key and will bring you the results you want to see.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d love to start off with brunch at Milk Money Bar & Kitchen, they have great food selections and bottomless mojitos. I love the passion fruit mojito. Then I’d do a little shopping at Miami district Design. If the weather is perfect, maybe spend a little time at the beach. The beach usually has great taco spots. King’s Bowling is a great spot to have fun and bowl. They also have great drinks and tasty finger foods. If there are any comedy show nights available, I’d check that out too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a pretty great support system with family and friends.
