Meet Loc Nguyen | Entreprenuer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Loc Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Loc, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think the one thing a lot of people might not be aware of in this business is the incredible amount of precision, timing, and detail orientation it requires to produce an amazing donut or baked good. There is so much that goes into a recipe to ensure the best product is produced and same quality is presented for our customers. This is the main reason we are limited in the quantity we are able to produce for our loyal customers so they can have the same amazing quality goodies everytime they come.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are so proud to bring about one of the first mochi donuts and Japanese corndog store in South Florida. It has been such a journey to be able to come together and create amazing food for our customers. Everything is homemade and prepared in the store by our marvelous staff. We cannot express the love and gratitude for everyone that has believed in and supported us throughout the journey. This has not been an easy task and there have been many challenges to overcome, especially creating the perfect recipes. Thank you so much to our Mama and Uncle for perfecting their baking recipes and for the builders that made our vision become a reality to bring a small piece of Asian culture and atmosphere to South Florida.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best itinerary for my best friend would be to bring her to the best Asian food places since that is what I know best. We would need to stop by so many destinations that would include: Mama Street Foods for authentic Vietnamese style street foods (literally sitting outside in the same style small tables and chairs like Vietnam), to homemade pho noodles at PhoBar, and then of course stop by Mama Yatai & Donuts for some sweets and fun drinks. I have alway loved going to Fort Lauderdale beach to just hang out, stop by any of the restaurants for seafood and drinks and maybe hop on Jungle Queen for sight seeing for the gorgeous mansions on the waterway.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The one important factor that we cannot do without in our success is our mom, Anna (Mama). We attribute our success to her love, passion and dedication to her craft. She has always been business-minded and an entreprenuer back in Vietnam and brought that same wit and experience to the United States to help us build our “American Dream”. The expertise, precision, quality control, and love she puts into her baked goods and donuts is unmatched by anyone else. All the recipes are her own and we cannot be where we are without her help. She is the foundation of our family and our businesses. We love you Mama! We also cannot forget to mention our Uncle Hai for his ability to endure all types of working conditions and bringing his knowledge of the food industry to help us create a calm and efficient working environment.
