We had the good fortune of connecting with Evgeniya Jane Dergacheva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evgeniya Jane, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been dreaming about being a medspa owner since I was 16. I worked at this beautiful spa at the Frontdesk. Our boss would come to the spa 30 min prior opening and had all the girls get her ready for the day. Skincare, makeup, hair. I said to myself “I’m going to be this boss lady one day”. And I’m still working hard towards my dream, I’m getting closer and closer 🙂
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I came to this country 15 years ago, didn’t speak any English, had $400 in my pocket. But the reason I love this country so much is if you work hard and smart you can achieve anything! I started with Houskeeping job, then became a server, then a bartender. I’ve lived in Key West for 3 years, which was a great place to learn how to drive a car, how to speak English and I wanted something more from my life, I wanted a career. I moved to Miami, became an insurance agent and was great at it but didn’t love it. One of my friends made a post on a Facebook that she loved her job, which was dermatology office. I messaged her right away, she told me about the school she went to and from day one I knew it’s something I wanted to do to the rest of my life. I was so passionate about skincare , I was eager to learn and learn and learn. I read so many books, took so many classes besides school. As Grant Cardone said you have to be obsessed about what you do and I truly was. After graduating the school I got a job at the med spa, I started changing lives, helping people to get the skin of their dreams. my clients feedback is what kept me going! My favorite clients are acne clients, you really help them to become a new person, you elevate their confidence, they start dating again, going out, smiling, taking selfies, ahhh I absolutely love this feeling, it makes my heart so happy! After 4 years of working for someone I decided that I’m confident enough to go on my own, to dig deeper for my potential. Oh it was one of the scariest things I’ve done. But I’m soooo thankful for the courage, I’m so thankful for my husband’s support, he always believed in me, I’m thankful for my clients, they were so supportive. What sets me apart from others is that I put all my heart in what I do! I connect with my clients, I remember their kids names, their anniversaries, I over deliver, I never stop learning, I have an answer to all their questions and I always want the best for my clients!!!! The best sheets, the best skincare, the best facial equipment etc. They feel the love and they love me back 🤗. This way definitely wasn’t easy. Lots of learning, lots of researching, some trials and errors, you can only became a good aesthetician with time and practice. It’s A LOT of responsibility!! My clients trust me their faces, their money makers 😆, no pressure 🙈 I don’t listen to the music when I’m driving, it’s always a podcast or a book about skincare, I’m obsessed you guys 🥰 and this is why I am successful, and keep growing, cause I go all in!! Can’t wait to see what a year from now brings 🤗
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would treat her with a facial at my spa of course haha Definitely winwood, such a cool vibe, lots of art. I love a good day at the pool, The One is a beautiful hotel in Miami. Our beaches are gorgeous. I would take a trip to Islamorada. Marco Island has beautiful beaches, white sand.
Hard Rock Casino (guitar) is fun to visit. My favorite restaurant there is Abiaka, everything made on fire wood grill with a smoke flavor, mmm. Takato is amazing in Fort Lauderdale, good quality Japanese cuisine. Timpano in Las Olas, 10 out of 10 food.
I would also take her to breath work event done by my husband (breath coach) at the beach, which helps to rest your mind and body and just let go of everything that stops you, such a unique, amazing experience. And of course cold plunge at our house, whoever comes to our house, never leaves without jumping in a Cold Plunge (39 degrees water) You want to come over ? 🤗
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, absolutely, my husband deserves a shoutout, he always works hard to make things happen! Also 10x by Grant Cardone is very motivational book. He basically teaches you to be obsessed about what you do, to always go that extra mile, to over deliver, to not be mediocre in order to make it in life!
