Meet Kandi Green | Spa Owner, Philanthropist, Professional Speaker, Serial Entrperneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kandi Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kandi, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact on my children’s lives is be transparent. I’ve allowed my children to watch me in my toughest times. I’ve allowed them to see me be vulnerable. They have watched me struggle. They have watched me cry, they have watched me fall short, they have watched me be unsure. They have watched me trip over the same rock multiple times. It became impactful when they watched me get up time and time again. Allowing them to see me overcome opposition, struggle, downfalls, nay sayers adversity, life challenges, prepared them for the unknown. They watch my tears dry up. They saw the days where I was confused and they saw the days I had to pray my way through, The saw the days where I thought I had reached a dead end but I had to create a path. What that did was show my kids nothing is impossible without God. Every situation can be changed with prayer, hard work, consistency, a plan, and resilience. They can be and do anything, It’s not going to always be easy, it’s not going to come over night, we may stumble, it may hurt, but the have the power to change their situation whatever it may be. They saw mommy “bleed” and realize it you can heal and still win. Not by way of magic but by faith and consistency.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I opened Natural Beauty Bar in 2016. When I initially opened the beauty bar I had very little experience in skincare. I started the business literally because I had a dream. I allowed my faith to lead me and I must say it was the best decision I could’ve ever made. There were days when the business only made $40 after a full 12 hour shift. It was the most painfullest reality for me. I had to real dissect my business and start getting a better understanding of business, marketing money management, and so much more. There were days where I didn’t know how payroll was going to get done in order for my employees rot get paid. But God made a way. Along the way i’ve learned how to have effective communication with my team. Ive learned how to plan in advance and be ahead of the incoming seasons. Im always prepared for what’s to cone. I used prior experience and insights too project what’s to come. the last 7 years hasn’t been easy and in the beauty industry you definitely have to earn how to change and adapt quickly to trends you have to know what’s going to last or what’s just for the moment. Measuring the outcomes of all these allow you to real take advantage of whats to come and can put your business in the lead. I still get excited everyday about what doors the business has opened for me but i’m even more excited about what’s to come. I am starting the franchise process and looking to open location sin Atlanta and Houston in the near future. Right now the renovations of the beauty bar and creating the look and atmosphere that our market of women desire has been a rollercoaster ride to say the least. But to know the reward is going to be greater than the suffering. Im almost to the finish line.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food is a big thing…. Our first stop Is Natural Beauty Bar! Providing over 167 beauty services, the welcoming staff and warm atmosphere is the first stop needed to awaken your self admiration. Once we are cute and feeling beautiful its time to search for the food! One of my favorite go to spots is Kelseys Groceries. It’ sells the best conch salad you can imagine. Then we have to make a stop to the Purple store to patronize the local Food trucks. Im big on sporting the small businesses in the neighborhood. Shopping is a must…. Aside from the local malls I love grabbing sexy fits from the local boutiques. Then off to support PJ Promotions, it doesn’t matter what club he’s promoting you’ll always get a nice vibe. If I really want a grown up vibe I always go to Da Cave in north Miami for a nice RNB Vibe. I also enjoy releasing the stresses of reality and I would go to Ft Lauderdale beach and enjoy a pizza from Primanti brothers they are open 24 hours no matte trim we get there we are guaranteed a fresh oven cooked pizza slice!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success has been shaped and molded by many of attributors. Aside from my creator making me in His likeness. nI have to thank my Grandmother, Barbara Cheeks Reid for, displaying resilience courage, and selflessness. Regardless of the challenges she faced she always seemed to make a way, carrying our family for decades she never complained she just did it. My parents Charity Reid and Dell Green for raising me with such hustle. They were both examples of how to live a life by working hard. My dad worked multiple jobs all my life and my mom spend countless hours at work to provide for my brothers and me. Ny stepmother Kendra, she has invested in every business venture i’ve ever thought about doing, no matter what it was she took a chance with me good deals and bad deals. she has contributed to me learning how to be an amazing mother. My ex husband, father of my children and best friend Pj Holloway, man so much I can say. For nearly 2 decades he has endured my frustration, my indecisiveness, my stubbornness, my impulsive decisions, he has helped me clean up messes. He sacrificed many of his own dreams an aspirations to help me pursue all of my dreams. Im forever grateful. I have to give a shout out to my kids. Alyssa, Lia, Princess, & Prince their futures are my constant reminders of why I work so diligently. I also want to dedicate my shoutout to my 3 siblings, my brothers, Dell, Cedric and Tevin they give me an unconditional love they love me no matter how much I elevate, they really keep me grounded. Shout out to my team at Natural Beauty Bar. Last but not least my close friends Shanae Bowles, Jessica Santos, Stephanie Hoyte, Jasmine Gary, Katina Barnes and Laquandria Sneed. They all keep me balanced in every avenue of my life, relationship, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, as a mother, business owner, woman of God. They make me have a true understanding of iron sharpens iron.
