We had the good fortune of connecting with Andre Whitehead and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andre, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to do something that I enjoyed while at the same time being able to earn and make a living from it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to think of myself as an alternative wedding photographer and videographer. I use photographs to tell the story of your day. I love shooting weddings, each wedding is beautifully different and it’s these moments that I love to capture. The real moments. The people, the emotion and the details. Through them you will be able to relive that day for years to come. That’s why I find being a wedding photographer such a privilege. And that’s why I take so much pride in my work. Formal photographs have their place but I like to capture the spirit of your day. It’s the small things. A smile. A glance. The laughter. The love. Those moments are equally memorable. Through hard work, dedication to the craft and long nights editing, that’s how I am where I am today. I overcome challenges by keeping a positive outlook and staying focus on my goals.
Lessons I have learnt is that in order to grow you have to be willing to learn, you will never know everything and also to inspire fellow creatives, let them know that they are valued and appreciated.
As for the World…Just know I will make my mark and my work will be seen and valued world wide.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week long trip! Wow… So many places to visit… First we would have to stop and get some food (fast food) Juicy Patties were they serve both meat and vegetarian patties then stop at OHJA herb house to relax a bit. During the course of the week we would beach hop starting from negril, go on a drinks inclusive catamaran ride from Island Charter, eat at margaritaville. Next day head to Montego Bay Dr. Cave Beach, eat at Pier 1 and party at Lounge 27/27… You have to rest after that so a calm river day at sweet river Westmoreland. Then to Ocho Rios mystic mountain and duns river falls, then hang out at island village. other places to hang out and eat with music vibes would be Pineapple beach and Elevate roof top Lounge.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have alot to be thankful for, especially during covid a group of us as budding creatives “The Bokeh Media Group” that was my biggest support group. We used that time during the covid lockdown period to push and test ourselves, shared creative knowledge and the group also motivated each of us to go out and build on that knowledge.
