We had the good fortune of connecting with Catalina Arenas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Catalina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The key behind any success is passion, that is the motor to pursue any dream and overcome the obstacles in the pathway.

Since the first day I choose to become an actress, when I was sixteen years old and about to start my career in theater at Universidad de Antioquia, in Colombia; passion was the light, always on, telling me that was the right choice.

If you are not connected enough with your job, if you don’t feel joy while working on your projects, if the excitement abandon you, it means that you are probably in the wrong direction, and ready for a change.

My brand is fulfill not only with the quality of years of experience, but also with a happy soul following a dream.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I graduated from Dramatic Arts in 2016. Simultaneously I was rising my child and working as an actress in different projects for recognized artistic companies in Medellin.

Then life sent me back to the US in 2017 and as proud as I was of my accomplishments, I swore that I would keep working as an artist and nothing more. Of course fear was always trying to push me down; is not easy to pay bills with your passion, mostly if art is involved.

But that has been my fight since I found happiness working as an entertainer, and my weapon has been my company: Creative Stage Productions with the brand Creative Parties, a company for education and entertainment thru the arts. I offer all kinds of entertainment for kids’ birthday parties: clowns, puppet shows, stiltwalkers, and characters for themed parties. Also theatrical shows and performances for cultural events in schools, libraries, museums, private events, etc.

One of the biggest lessons to succeed as an entrepreneur and most importantly as a person, has been to persist on my dreams even with fear.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To walk around and enjoy the view from the lighthouse in Bill Baggs in Key Biscayne, to bike from South Point to Lincoln Road, and there a stop to eat in Pizza Rustica and finally to drink in Schnebly Redland’s Winery in Homestead.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Conecta Miami Arts, for being the first organization in Miami to open the door to a continues art work opportunities. Letting me create freely with no obstacles in the artistic journey.
