We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Wildwood Flower Co. was born out of a yearning for more than just fresh flowers, a lovely bouquet, a simple delivery: we wanted to provide an experience. An experience of beauty, of solace, of celebration and the full spectrum in between.
We love flowers because they speak a universal language that we all need for human flourishing: connection, comfort in a time when so much is unknown, joy in the simple things. A simple “I’m thinking of you.”
For us, flowers have always provided these things in their own little way: it’s why we’re so passionate about them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a creative, I’ve found many things I’ve loved over the years as an art form. I will always love creating with my hands and falling in love with creating floral arrangements was the best yet. A true passion, I wanted to provide more than just a floral arrangement. I wanted to provide an experience: with every arrangement, I offer a calligraphy-style hand-written (by me) personalized (by you) card for a truly unforgettable experience. Each arrangement is thoughtfully arranged for each individual client.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Goodness, South Florida has some of the best local eateries, coffee shops, boutiques, everything you need for an incredible time. In Fort Lauderdale, you’ll definitely want to stop by Wells Coffee Co. – a local coffee shop (two locations) with the best coffee in town. And the owners are just darned good people. If you’re looking to work while in town, you’re going to want to visit General Provision Downtown – a gorgeous co-working space that’s sure to inspire and they have a cafe for all your snack + drink needs. The Art Museum is a must and my family often visits the local nature centers. Wolf Lake Park is a peaceful respite from the bustle of the city and Oleta River State Park in Miami is our favorite. It has trails, kayaks and the most perfect beach for lounging + watching the sailboats come in.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since the beginning, Wildwood has been a woman-owned, locally run business. We’re passionate about local businesses because my husband and I owned a coffee shop in downtown Fort Lauderdale for five years that showed us how special the Fort Lauderdale community is. And it’s why we will forever support local businesses. We are a husband + wife team, with Sarah (me) playing with flowers and making gorgeous arrangements + Dan (husband) delivering flowers and making peoples’ days.
