We had the good fortune of connecting with Louise Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Louise, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea came to me when the pandemic hit. I wanted to see my friends, so the only solution was to meet outside. Picnics by Louise was born.
What should our readers know about your business?
I enjoy entertaining, be it a sunset picnic on the beach or a birthday celebration picnic.
What sets me a apart from others is that I offer seven different themes to choose from: BOHO, By the Sea, India/Mediterranean, Asian, Greek, Shabby Chic, and Romantic.
It was easy to put these themes together because I love to thrift. I took time to find unique items that fit each theme.
I’ve learned that marketing is the key! That’s why I attend events around the area and set up my picnics to advertise my business.
Picnics by Louise is the perfect way to enjoy wonderful South Florida.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie so most of what we would do it eat. First stop, breakfast! Untoasted is a unique diner with delicious food. Then we would head to Hollywood’s broadwalk and beach to soak up the sun and listen to the waves crash. Off to lunch at Taco Beach Shack on A1A. Then go home, relax and get ready for an evening in Downtown Hollywood. Dinner at Greek Joint and hanging out to have a drink and fun at Social Room. Keeping it local. On other days we may drive to the Florida Keys or Naples to visit for the day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friends Silvia Castro and Maggie Davila have been supporting my business from the conception. They’ve helped me set up my picnics at the Sunday Jazz Brunch in Ft. Lauderdale numerous of times to promote my business. Michelle Desjardins, Bayle Jacobs, and Rebecca Stark Schwartz has always shown me encouragement.
