Meet Elise Tabin | Beauty Editor, Expert & Founder of TWiiSH, a line of teenage skincare

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elise Tabin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elise, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
It’s hard to pinpoint one decision that contributed to my success. The culmination of many achievements over nearly 20 years landed me where I am. Empowering and constantly pushing myself never to give up on my vision of success–no matter what that looked like at various times–is my driving force. Once I put all my efforts into elevating my career to my vision of success, it just took off. Now, I’m at the point in my career where I have the drive, connections, confidence and mission to create my own brand that will change the face of teenage skincare.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m in the pre-launch stage of TWiiSH, a line of teenage skincare. We’re doing things differently and creating formulas that are effective for teenage skin without harsh or unnecessary ingredients. Today, too many teens are influenced to buy and use skincare products that don’t cater to their skin needs, and I want to bring things back to the basics. Building a brand, especially in the beauty space, takes work. It’s been a long road, but we are getting there. I’ve learned a lot along the way, especially to trust my gut in the decision-making process–if it doesn’t seem right to me, my customers will probably feel the same way.
What I want the world to know about TWiiSH is that this is a skincare brand created by a beauty editor (myself) and her teenage daughter, so there are years and years of personal experience, education and working with top doctors that have fueled this idea, bringing it to fruition. For years, people have asked me why I didn’t launch a skincare line, and I always said that the world doesn’t need another product line for 40-something women. But teenagers need products catering specifically to their skin. Unfortunately, this sector of skincare hasn’t been given the attention it deserves, and it’s time to change that.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love dinner at Carbone–it never fails. And a day of shopping at Bal Harbour is always a luxe experience, followed by sushi at Makato. I had dinner with some of my best friends at Macchialina, and it was fabulous.
I’m also a big fan of Palm Beach. It’s such a special little jewel box of a town. Brunch poolside at Swifty’s at The Colony is always a good time. And I love to hit up Sant Ambroeus when I’m craving pasta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I always give credit where credit is due, and I don’t think I would be where I am today without the guidance and support of my former Editor-in-Chief, Yolanda Yoh-Bucher. Although we no longer work together, she was influential during my years as the Executive Beauty Editor at NewBeauty magazine. I also receive a ton of support and mentorship from my husband, Herb. He tells it like it is and never sugarcoats the truth. But he also healthily pushes me to achieve my big dreams.
If it weren’t for my daughter, Madysen, and her personal skin struggles, I don’t know if I would be launching TWiiSH. I’m forever grateful for our relationship and am proud of the mother she makes me be.
