We had the good fortune of connecting with GRISELDA LECHINI and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi GRISELDA, how do you think about risk?
Risk has been the main character in the movie of my life. Since I first came to the States just cause it was my dream to live here. I didn’t have anybody waiting for me at that time. But I strongly believed I could make it happen, I had no fears, and I was decided to work hard to achieve my goals. Years later, after I was having a lot of success in my modeling and tv career, still felt something was missing. It was to have my own family.  Again, I left everything behind to build a new life with my then husband, in a place in the South, that was completely different to Miami. At that moment,  I thought I couldn’t have it all in the same place. Yes, it was a risk but I went for it. Once in there, far from everything, I discovered my passion for painting, something that I hadn’t done before. I needed to do something where I could express my passion for colors and life. It was a wonderful discovery. Not only I loved it but those who were close to me as well, my own teachers encourage me to keep doing it, and I had quite a success there.

Years later, I needed to leave that life behind, it was not what I dreamed of. Sadly things didn’t work as planned. One more time I had to make a tough decision and decided to leave and travel with my new discovered gift, my paintings. It was not easy. More than once I needed to start from scratch, sometimes it was like climbing a mountain after falling down.  I believe that all we dream of is on the other side of the wall of fear and for that we need to take risks. Yes, indeed, we should plan ahead and think more than twice before taking some steps, but the only way is to “jump”, to go for it, go out of our comfort zone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is all about expressing feelings. Love for life, beauty, energy. So I express all of these in different ways, with my paintings by putting colors that have those meanings. That bring a message. It is incredible but lots of people feel them in front of my paintings. Sometimes, paintings that I didn’t have any expectations are the first ones to be sold cause of this, the perception people have on them.

Last year, as many of us, I needed to reinvent myself cause long time planned shows were cancelled and as we know, the world changed, which seriously affected us, the artists as well. It was shocking.

Then I discovered another ways to create and to express my feelings. Writing and creating a line of clothing and accessories with my paintings, so it was not only by putting colors on a canvas but putting my feelings in words and designing wearable art.

My life is all about overcoming things that knocked me down and keep going cause I feel a mission of embracing the gift of life, and make the best out of it. It is also a mission to inspire others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many spots in Miami to be visited. For all tastes, I would bring my friends to the traditional South Beach area and visit the Versace Mansion, a walk and a drink in Lincoln Rd, a visit to the Botanical Garden, and to some great restaurants in the South of Fifth St. Then a drive through Brickell area, of course a visit to the Design District and a walk and photo shoot in the walls of Wynwood.

I would show them Coconut Grove, Bal Harbor Shops. And finally, if possible, I would take them to Key West. Of course, with no doubt, the beaches and a good ride on a boat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Usually people that I didn’t know from before are the ones that have given me an opportunity to grow. I dedicate all my accomplishments to all the ones that believed in me, that have opened me the doors to grow and to go to the next step in life just cause they felt they needed to help me in some way, not expecting anything in return. Even to those who gave me a word of encouragement in a much needed moment to keep going, my eternal gratitude.
