We had the good fortune of connecting with Maya Safyra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maya, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I would have to say that I never decided officially to work for myself. The single most important decision I ever made in developing what I have developed was deciding to focus on my craft. This meant experimenting and trying things that were unconventional and sitting with them long enough to see if there was a positive outcome. I was like a scientist. I tested every technique I use and realized what works for what. And then I had clients come to me because I had information. I never advertised because I actually wasn’t trying to build a business per se. I was more interested in helping people. In the beginning I offer all my services for free because I usually learn something new and need bodies and minds to test things out on. I really learned through trial and error and eventually my business built itself. I think that on top of focusing on my craft, I was also diligent to see if there was a positive outcome and that the techniques I implemented were actually working.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think that what I do in and of itself sets me apart from the mainstream. I am a Clairvoyant, a Hypnotherapist and a Yoga Teacher. It is a different form of work that is a unique healing modality. I am most proud of the fact that I do this at all, given the number of options of professional success one could choose to take that would be more stable. And what I am excited about is that I see it growing. I think that I am on the verge of creating a completely new healing modality as a practice. I have merged multiple elements of mind, body and spiritual healing and I am ready to give it a title.

In terms of how I got where I am and was it easy, I will say that nothing you endeavor to do in life is going to be easy. I do think that this path is uniquely complicated in that I had to decipher what was being served to me in society and break down who I am, that as a Clairvoyant, I don’t align with what’s being taught out there and decide to stay true to my internal design. I came from a very challenging background and I had to accept that while I am different, I can’t deny who I am to try to follow a path that will take me out of alignment with my true nature.

That is only the beginning, however. It’s one thing to be a Clairvoyant and have to navigate the hurdles of a world that doesn’t support that line of work. It’s an entirely different thing to DO the work. I mean, I have seen and worked with people around the world who are all coming with some serious challenges. I have worked with women in the Middle East who have severe trauma. I have worked with folks who have spirit attachments. I have worked with cancer patients. I have seen people at incredibly low places in life and had to understand the root cause of their suffering and try to pull them back from these dark places. I have seen people make a 180 degree turn around and I have had to witness a lot of death as well.

I think that what I would want the world to know through my work is that we are misinformed about the way we create things in life. We are living in a program that tells us to do A, B and C in physical form, when we, in our true nature, are much greater than that. I try to get all of my clients out of their attachment to what they physically see in front of them. When we step back into meditation and connect with source, we see that we are much more powerful than we think we are in this little body of ours. We are all connected in an interweb of energy. That is our true nature. It is also the meaning of my name, Maya. Maya means illusion in Sanskrit. The illusion of material reality is just a simple veil dividing our ego from our true nature. We are all able to tap into source and be the creators of our reality in a much more profound way that we could ever imagine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What I love about Miami is the beach! I actually do yoga by the beach and try to spend time in nature here. You can go kayaking or paddle boarding. There are lots of spots to bike to as well. As for spots to go out, I have to say that Ceviche 105 is the best spot in town. It is authentic Peruvian at its best!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had several mentors without whom I would not be doing any of the work I do today. The first is Wayne Chandler, author of the book ‘Ancient Future’. Wayne was my martial arts teacher in high school. He directed me towards qigong and yoga and was the first to see that I might have spiritual gifts that are unique. I don’t think I would have ventured down this path at all if it weren’t for Wayne. He is actually the person who introduced me to my two later mentors. One was Minke de Vos, author of ‘Tao Tantric Arts for Women’. She teaches qigong for women and how to develop an internal power that was basically the opposite of the masculine sense of strength and power one might get from fitness today. Tsofia Gal is the next person to whom I owe a lot of my ability to do one on one sessions to. She is a clairvoyant healer who, like myself, does readings online. She is the person who bridged the energy work I was doing through qigong with being able to actually see energy and beyond the ego. She taught me that there is really a thin line between our physical form and our energetic body and that you must look at the truth in order to get accurate information.
