We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Gispert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away. I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist. Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. Everything you can imagine is real.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I grew up in Little Havana so I have a soft spot for old places.

Eat: La camaronera on Flagler
Casablanca on the river
Sergios on Coral Way 32nd
Fresh Florida Fisheries on 57th ave

Drink:
La Carreta ( best 6$ mojito in town)

Hang out:

“El Farito” aka Bill Bags State Park

Interesting places to visit:

Perez Art Musuem
Fred Snitzer Gallery
Name Publications
Bridge Red Studios

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends. My family emigrated to this country from Cuba and worked extremely hard to afford us the opportunities they didn’t have. Setting the example of hard work and never giving up no matter how many setbacks you encounter. My dear wife Teresa Lopez-Castro and our beautiful daughters Lucia and Alma. Without their support, I would have never been able to make my first feature film Amigo.
