We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfonso Caldera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alfonso, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The key to my success in Miami is consistency. Everyday I always work on advancing my Company and now have one of the most successful Salsa & Bachata Dance Studios in Miami, Bravo Dance Company. If you have a lot of passion, courage, perseverance and a vision, you can make it happen. It all comes down to how much you want it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Bravo Dance Company was created after winning several World Salsa Dance Titles in the USA. It was not an easy journey, but with passion and dedication for the love of dance, I was able to open up my own company. While juggling 2 jobs, and training every night with my dance partner for our competition in Miami, we were able to take home 1st place! With credibility on my side, I opened my brand.

What sets Bravo Dance Company in Miami apart from other schools is our unique teaching style. We have a beginner friendly syllabus that is easy to learn and we emphasize on the importance of dancing with proper technique, which is really important for the growth of an all rounded dancer.

Now with 3 locations in North Miami, Brickell and Fort Lauderdale, we are ready to get Miami passionate about dancing Salsa & Bachata!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Miami there is so much to do, with an event happening every night you have plenty of options! Among many great Salsa venues, one of the places to check out is Calle Ocho. They have live bands, salsa and bachata gatherings, good food, you cannot go wrong!

One of the top Salsa & Bachata promoters in Miami, Jorge Charun runs an event almost every night of the week in different locations! You can always guarantee a great night out by checking out the Miami Salsa Scene on Instagram to see the hottest parties in South Florida.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to Rico Bravo from Rico Bravo Productions. He’s always been my mentor who coached me to become a World Salsa Champion and always there to give me support and advice whenever I needed.
He runs one of the best Salsa Congresses in the world and I am looking forward to supporting his Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, November, 2023!
