We had the good fortune of connecting with John DAddario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It wasn’t my plan to become a full time tattoo artist, not even one but I love tattoos and my life was surrounded by art since childhood.

It’s been a 19 year old trip since everything started. It came to a point where I had to make a decision. I remember being in Europe, working as a part-time tattoo artist I had the privilege to see people transform and become happy just because of my tattoos. That’s when I decided to get deep into it.

I remember studying professional advertising, sales education, graphic design and all related to my art in order to make the business work.

Since then, I’ve been just around the world, every 2 months, traveling to meet amazing people and give them the best I can.

Now I’m settled in Miami, but I’m constantly traveling, there’s so much people coming over and waiting for me around the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It all started in South America, all the way up to North America, Europe and Asia.

I’ve traveled so much that the amount of cultural information in my head is unbearable and the only way to take it out is through tattoos. If you take a closer look , despite of the colors and styles, you’ll see there’s a lot behind every tattoo.

What sets me apart from the crowd is the way my colors are implemented. I strongly believe in karma, the aura and the colors of each soul, every tattoo is related to it, and my main goal was to portray a feeling, something you can look at that can also make you feel something, not just art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love wynwood and south beach. I world recommend you a great restaurant I love which is called “ Little Italy”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Johan Avila from ink for the soul deserves my shoutout for being such an important person in my career. He taught me how to tattoo 20 years ago and he’s hosting me at his amazing studio in Miami
