Meet Jennifer Augustin | Trauma and Recovery Coach + Mommy and Faith Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Augustin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Happiness for me is doing anything that I love or that reminds me of my childhood. This means that it has to have sugar (cheese cake for sure). I love wearing my comfy socks even if it is extremely hot and humid outside. I will curl up on the couch and watch my favorite Hallmark movie or show. It is such a great feeling! I also like creating things with my hands. So, that means decorating my home, cooking and entertaining for friends. Happiness is also about taking on new adventures or pausing to do things that are unconventional and simple in life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my company is Simple Steps By Jen. I coach women on embracing motherhood with simplicity and grace after experiencing childhood trauma. My ideal clients are mothers that would like to learn how to use their voice again after being silenced for so long. I aspire to help mothers re-write their trauma story from bruised and broken to redeemed and fully thriving.
I am most excited about a future mentorship group called, Mothers Crowning Daughters. The focus of the group is teaching mothers how to nurture their daughters and break the patterns of toxic motherhood. Some of the mother-daughter topics that will be covered are healing from mother wounds, soul wounds, codependency, breaking trauma bonds, and healing the inner child. I am also working on a few devotional series about wisdom and biblical motherhood.
Business wise, I got here by focusing on writing about the struggles of mothers needing simple steps to overcome trauma and mother wounds. My most popular blog post shaped my business – How to Heal the Mother Wound In 8 Ways. In the blog post, I developed FREE prayer journal prompts and videos to encourage women to take a deeper dive into healing from a toxic relationship with their mother.
There were many times that I did not want to post another blog article because I felt unqualified to speak on motherhood. I am not a mother so I battled fears of whether people found value in what I was writing. It took a lot of prayer, tears, and being vulnerable in how I related to my authentic self and mostly to God. I realized that the more that I was willing to share how I overcame childhood trauma in my writings, the more that I was able to meet other women with the same sentiments. I also realized that being a mother was really about caring and nurturing the hearts of women that I coached. I have learned that my writings help mothers to see that they are not alone in their journey of discovering who they really are without trauma. As pioneers, they are breaking toxic behavior patterns, and approaching motherhood not as victims but as over-comers.
My mission and vision is to see mothers fully embrace the beauty of nurture, reclaim their identity in God, and fully walk in their divine purpose. As a society, I have seen the lack of “mothering” in the lives of adult-children. The feeling of safety and validation first begins with our parents and most importantly our mothers. Mothers who are healed from childhood trauma and soul wounds can begin to approach motherhood with a sense of wholeness. I can only imagine the positive impact that this will have for future generations to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you are staying close to Pompano Beach and you are in the mood for some authentic Greek food, I would encourage you to visit the Gyro Joint. The owners are bright and welcoming, towards people that come into their restaurant. You will fall in love with the greek salad and home made dressing. Their gyro and pita bread will have you thinking you are on some island in Greece. It is that good! If you want some fried food, check out Hooks and Fish. Their fried fish and shrimp is super delicious. Make sure to ask for their secret seasoning to be poured over your food. You also need to try Antonios Pizza. They are a family owned restaurant since 1978 and have several locations, Dania Beach and Hollywood. Their garlic bread is absolutely amazing.
If you are looking to soak up in the sun, then visit the Light House Point or one of Pompano’s beaches. You can walk on the pier and even do a little fishing. Travel down to Downtown Fort Lauderdale to catch a water-taxi for a tour of the city and luxury homes. You will get a tour guide that will talk about all of the celebrities that live right here in South Florida.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my close friends and mentors. I especially thank my best friend Elysse. She was the first person that taught me all about motherhood and unconditional love. I also would like to thank my friend Christina for empowering me to see the vision of Simple Steps By Jen. I still remember my first conversation with her about me starting a business on parent coaching. It seems like yesterday and I am proud to see how far I have come.
