Meet Melanie Prapopoulos | Art Director at The Contemporary Art Modern Project

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melanie Prapopoulos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melanie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I stumbled into art. First as a child visiting museums in the states and abroad, to uni classes, to beginning to paint, to opening a gallery. I decided to follow this path for the art, for the artists and the collectors – all have difficulties in gaining both exposure and understanding. Too often there are numerous barriers in place for artists to move forward in their careers, and for emerging collectors to be able to navigate the art world.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I am most proud of is how myself and my team are reacting to the art industry by trying to be open, upfront and keeping the artist, their work, and the collector always in the forefront of our decisions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Besides Juvia on the beach, I also love the boutique hotels and often go there for a coffee… or cocktails. Another place I love is Viscaya – it is just so beautiful. The Design District is another and of course, The CAMP Gallery!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My staff, Maria Di Giammarco, Gabriel Torres, Chloe Fabian and Mario Rodriguez – who without none of The CAMP Gallery would be possible – each have great insight, imagination and talent.
