We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Tavarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexander, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Engrailment Films started out as VaporMark Productions. The name change came from the fact that “Engrailment Films” was an idea for the company name that I came up with in High School while watching ‘Gladiator’ that was lost until a several months ago. The thought process to create the company was due to the fact that my other company that I created with my friends wasn’t going to be the front running production on my film. It was due to the fact that we wanted to throw a dummy company in so that if the film fell through the company can be forgotten about. I had some doubts, but ‘Engrailment FIlms’ turned out to be a success with my first professional short film.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me and my team apart is much like all other production companies or filmmakers, we put our hearts into our work and try to make it as original as possible. And no, it wasn’t easy, it took a lot of trials and tribulations to get to where we are today. I say “we” because I didn’t do this alone, my best friend Maxbarry Maurisset and my mentor LJ Ugarte helped a lot through the process. We had a lot of setbacks on set, with forgetting props to having to reschedule, but we always had a solution for our problems. One of the biggest lessons I learned is organization. Always be prepared.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re going to visit South Florida visit the beaches, but avoid the lakes. Our biggest food attraction is Flanigan’s, tasty wings, tasty seafood, and great burgers. Or check out Publix and grabs some subs for a nice picnic in our local parks. If you’re in the Miami, check out the Frost Museum!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my success to my team @Engrailment Films. and also my mentor LJ Ugarte, the owner of Firecreek Entertainment LLC. I would also love to shoutout my family and friends for the support.
