We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Gonzalez Rizo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At first, it started purely as a hobby. I liked putting my headphones in and disconnecting while I was thrifting. Then my friends started asking me for specific things to keep an eye out for while I was thrifting and I realized that there is a huge reselling market. Most of my friends shopped from Poshmark and loved getting deals. So I decided to turn it into a business part-time since I am a teacher full-time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am super proud to have built this business all on my own. I have a hand in all parts of my business, from photographing items to posting on all platforms to brand research, packaging, and shipping. The toughest challenge has been the numbers part of the business like setting financial goals. Also learning and understanding social media has been tough. I am not a person who has ease with being in front of a camera so it has been interesting to learn and adapt.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is truly such an amazing city and other is so much to do!

I am a big pastries girl so I would take them to Flour and Weirdoughs for a morning pastry and coffee on Key Biscayne. We could go for a walk on the bridge and soak up the sun. Then we could hit up Suviche in Wynwood for their pisco happy hour with some ceviche and sushi. We could also hit up Smorgasburg for some fun food bites. Then to finish off the night we would end at Bakan in Wynwood and have some amazing tacos on blue corn tortillas which are my absolute favorite. I am a big foodie so everything must include food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think my closest friends have been the biggest supporters of my business! Although my social media following is not huge, my friends are always there to share my content and support me! It has been truly amazing to see and it makes me feel so loved.
