We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Restrepo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I never imagined myself doing what I do now, even though I dreamed and talked about it so many times throughout my life. I’ve always been passionate about marketing, choosing it as an elective in high school and specializing in it in college, even though there wasn’t a specific degree for it. I was fascinated by the way you could incentivize people, communicate, and give a brand essence. Marketing has always resonated in my mind as something I wanted to do, and my dream since I was very young was to have a marketing agency, even though I didn’t even know what that meant. I always looked for jobs related to marketing and gradually learned that marketing is an immense world where everything must be communicated, but there were parts of it that I liked more than others.

I think the most challenging aspect of starting your own business is that you face yourself, and you are your own biggest competition because your fears, frustrations, egos, and thoughts sometimes add an emotional dimension to the business that doesn’t belong there. This was my first lesson in my company: learning to separate my emotions from the business while still infusing it with a human essence that sets it apart from others.

Our marketing agency is called CREA. We specialize in creating brands, from their conceptualization and essence to how they look, speak, and express themselves. Brands should be treated like people, with their own personalities, values, and essence. No brand should try to be like another, and it should be true to itself. This is our approach, and after exploring many aspects of marketing, we decided to focus on this more creative and strategic part because everything in life starts with who we are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My perfect Miami Day

Wake up and see the sunrise at the beach (I love Miami Beach) and bring a Yoga mat.
Go have an overnight oatmeal bowl in this popular, but delicious cafe named Pura Vida on the Design District
For lunch I love IronSide (a hidden gem in the upper east side) you can find independent local shops and the most amazing wooden oven pizza
When in Miami I will always try to get on the water, rent a boat to see the sunset and go have dinner on the Miami river canal. You can park the boat outside The Wharf, play ping pong, grab a beer, and have some tacos. A relaxed, but great ambiance place.
Miami is a great balance between nature with the ocean and beach, with night life and great restaurants. Enjoy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Nothing that happens to us in life is a coincidence, and all the people we interact with and the circumstances we come across, even if we don’t realize it, have some impact on who we are today and what we are achieving along the way. In my particular case, I feel that I have had angels who have helped me achieve my biggest dreams. Sometimes I didn’t recognize those angels because they actually brought out the worst in me, but it’s in those tough, difficult moments where you grow the most, where you reconnect with your true essence and emerge as a better version of yourself. I am especially infinitely grateful to my real references, to people I know and interact with in my daily life. From my family to the entire CREA team, every person I talk to in my day is special and contributes a grain of sand to my path.
