We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Yepez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always believed that taking risks is crucial for personal and professional growth. The universe rewards those who step out of their comfort zones. Thinking about when I tried learning how to skateboard. When you drop in on a half pipe for the first time, it’s terrifying. But you commit fully, lean forward, and trust the board will catch up to your upper body and support you by the time you get to the bottom. That same philosophy applies to life and business. It’s about facing fears head-on and taking calculated risks.
I’m not advocating recklessness, though. I definitely try to think before I do. But you have to embrace the unknown and accept the possibility of failure.
Through my journey, the achievements that I am most proud of came after taking risks and working hard after it. Not every risk pays off immediately, but even in failure, I gain valuable experience and ALWAYS learn lessons.
Taking risks opens doors.. So, I firmly believe the universe rewards those who take risks. Dive in, embrace uncertainty, and step outside your comfort zone. It’s scary, but it’s where the magic happens. Trust your instincts, evaluate risks, and have faith that rewards will come your way.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business, 2Scale Replicas, is currently the only service bringing full-photorealistic color 3D printed scale model replicas to anyone that wants to capture the things that are nearest and dearest to their hearts. Clients can provide just a few pictures of what they want replicated (cars, pets, houses, boats, people, etc.) and in just a few weeks they can receive a shrunken down version to display on any level surface.
I learned 3D printing while studying for my engineering degree, however the learning curve associated with making full-color replicas was an entirely different ballgame. It was not easy. It costed me a lot of money (going back and forth with manufacturers with expensive 3D printers), a ton of broken prints, and a lot of time I will never get back. All that said, it was incredibly worth it and building a unique service that makes people happy is priceless. These might be novelty products, but for the people that already have everything they want and love, there is no better gift.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami for a week, I’d make sure they have an amazing time exploring the city’s best attractions. This is what our weak would look like…
Day 1: Cuban breakfast at Versailles in Little Havana, Wynwood Walls, and then dinner in South Beach (depending on budget lol).
Day 2: Visit Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, some time on the beach and dine in Brickell.
Day 3: Go up north to take an Everglades airboat tour, depending on the time of year I would try to work in a pro sporting event as I love all of the pro teams down here in SoFlo.
Day 4-6: We would make our way down to the Keys to spend the rest of the week relaxing in that one of a kind environment.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my life partner and the love of my life, Sophia Artamendi. She has always been the one to push me to better myself and she has taught me the value of discipline, hard work, and family. I have learned and grown with this woman for nearly a decade and without her I would still have a singular perspective on life. Without her I would have a different mindset; I would still not be convinced that I am fully in control of my destiny as I do now. Thank you for everything, I love you to the moon and back.
