We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessie Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessie, how do you think about risk?
If you don’t take the risk you will never know if is what you really need and want; moreover, when I take a risk I make sure that I keep in the same path to give it a fare shot. My whole adult life have been about take risks, is just part of my personality
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Cooking is an art. what sets me apart from others is the love, enthusiasm and passion I put into my food and the decorative part of it, I consider myself a foodie and I really enjoy what I do in the kitchen and how my customers react to it. I was able to get to this point by the support of my mother, partner in life and friends that to support me in this journey, ordered from me, gave me ideas and help me develop in the areas that I wasn’t able to do on my own, as well I owe a lot to Mamolasbakery because she gave me the opportunity to make this dream a realty by helping me get my first customers and still today promotes my business.
Haven’t been easy, but I still going through challenges, my business is really new so far the challenges have been mostly in the kitchen but I educate myself every day to provide my customer great quality food made with love and passion.
Learning is something that you do everyday, I learn new was to have a better understanding of my heritage Dominican culture and its food, better ways to make my food one of the best on the market.
Im Dominican and I would like for my peers to be proud of having a good representation of their food and culture in the USA as well as introduce some of the American culture into my food without abandoning my roots.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
