We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcel Perdomo, an entrepreneur and boat captain. He lists his boats on the boat rental platform GetMyBoat, and runs his company MBoatM in Miami.  We’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi marcel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I tried to start many businesses over the years. I failed several times, learned and never stopped believing in TRYING. If everyone succeeded at first try it would be too easy.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I really dislike when people say that all it takes is hard work to be successful or to “make it”. TO me is insulting for the ones who try and don’t succeed. Obviously hard work is a key component of what you need to be successful but we all need that one thing that very few acknowledge and that is LUCK. I had the ethics, the discipline, the focus but without luck I wouldn’t be where I am today. If you ask the right questions to ANY successful person you will find a defining moment in their life that allowed them to get on the path to success.

HOWERER, you can be extremely lucky and when opportunity comes you don’t have what it takes you won’t stand a chance. that’s why is a combination of things to me and to not acknowledge luck is to me upsetting. I say this because most people fail when they try to succeed. HEy! you ! just get up and TRY again! you will do it. LASER FOCUS and lots of hard work!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My business is boating. I love being out with friends on the boat. Miami has given me the best times of my life surround by friends and water. Yup, we are going boating everyday if possible! hands down!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my success to my parents. It is thanks to them. They gave me the right tools for this. They are not business oriented but they gave me the education, attitude, will and mental strength to endure anything really. Without that I wouldn’t be where I am.
