We had the good fortune of connecting with Julianne Delos Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julianne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been passionate about Interior Design ever since I was a young girl. I have a background in fashion and worked for a few companies after I graduated from college. Although it was great experiences and learned a lot working for different companies and start-ups, I knew I wanted to be my own boss someday. Being an Entrepreneur has its ups and downs of course, but I would not trade it for the world. Being able to do what I love for a living is a dream come true and I make it a point to remember to not take it for granted.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have an Interior Design & Styling business based in Miami with projects in California and NY with dreams to go international. I got to where I am by taking risks, facing my fears, trusting myself, my passion and my talent. And it was far from easy! I am of course still learning everyday as a self-taught designer and entrepreneur and just as in life, learning should never end. I overcame challenges by becoming resilient when I am faced with downfalls, adversity and failures. But just like the great Oprah Winfrey said, “There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction.” I’ve learned that my biggest obstacle will always only be myself and to never be afraid of trying new things. As long as I continue to do my best, great things will come. I want the world to know that my brand centers around creating spaces that emit peace, happiness and joy. I curate every space with intentional pieces, unique vintage furniture from all over the world and a neutral calming palette. My design aesthetic is minimal and mostly wabi-sabi with a mixture of brutalist and bohemian design with cultural influence from all over the world. I’m a firm believer that less is more and how great and beautiful design can be so impactful on a human being’s quality of life. I am looking forward to continuing the path of growing my business, creating my first commercial project and trying different avenues in the design world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to take my friends and family to the Design District and Miami Beach when they visit. My favorite restaurants are Mandolin, La Natural and recently Daek Thai Eatery. I’m also a lover of house music so I love to dance at places like Joia, 1 Hotel’s Beach Club & Space. I also took my parents to Vizcaya and it was so beautiful! Felt like Europe in Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My closest family and friends have always been my biggest cheerleaders and continue to support me on this journey. I also listen to many podcasts, self-development and entrepreneurship videos. But in particular, I would have to say Aaron Doughty. He is a spiritual YouTuber who helps with expanding consciousness. At the beginning phase of my business, he truly helped me transform to owning more of my power by simply becoming it and leaving my normal “9-5 job”, which ultimately led me to becoming full-time doing what I love.
