We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Beth Westie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Beth, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My goal is really to change the way women view their health. So much of the research that is done in the health industry has been done on men, and then adjusted to fit for women. Which has left so many women feeling frustrated and confused. The female body actually shifts hormonally each week of the month, and throughout our lifetime. Which means it is increasingly more important that we account for these shifts when making recommendations for women regarding their health. When I started working with women over 15 years ago I noticed that shifting recommendations based on their hormonal cycle was having a positive impact on their results. So I dove in even deeper to my Eastern Medicine background and developed a protocol to help women lean into their unique physiology. By shifting nutrition to support the natural hormone cycle going on in the body, we are able to naturally balance hormones and relieve symptoms associated with hormone imbalance (fatigue, PMS, weight gain, mood swings, etc). When I started seeing the results these women were getting I knew I need to do whatever I could to help more women understand their bodies, and be able to better advocate for themselves.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help women achieve sustainable health, hormone and weight loss results by addressing the root of their health issues in a natural way. We use the most comprehensive forms of testing to better understand exactly how each body is functioning and what we need to do in order to address any issues, and to get the body to an optimal place. I developed a protocol in which women use specific nutrition that supports the dominant hormone during each phase of the cycle called, Eating for Your Cycle®. In doing this women are able to naturally support their hormone cycle, and reduce symptoms of hormone imbalance like PMS, fatigue, weight gain, mood swings and more. We really focus on getting to the root of the problem versus just treating the symptom and then take a full body approach to make sure we are leaving no stone unturned.
Previous to this I owned a very successful practice. When I first started working with women and realizing that I could really help get them the results they were looking for in a more natural way, I knew I wanted to be able to serve more than just my community. I knew there were women struggling all over the world, that may benefit from this information. So I sold my successful office, and started my business online. At that time I had a lot of colleagues tell me I was crazy for doing this. I did not have a ton of support from friends or family, and ultimately lost a lot of those relationships, but I knew deep down this was what I was meant to do, and I felt I would never forgive myself if I didn’t at least try to help more women. As the years have gone on I’ve developed new relationships with more supportive people and have built a network that really lifts me up and helps me spread the word. It has not always been easy, but it has definitely been worth it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to the women who have believed in me, supported me, and trusted me with their health.
