Meet Meme Green | International Award-Winning Best Selling Author, Publisher and Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meme Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meme, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from the Eastside of Detroit. Growing up in Michigan had some challenges. As a young black girl growing up in Detroit, I was faced with challenges like a parent being in prison. My father was murdered when I was very young.
My story looked very bleak! Trauma use to be a way of life for me. One day, I decided I deserved to have a “Beauty From Ashes” story.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want people to know Meme Green Publishing was created out of purpose. The Beauty From Ashes Program is vastly different because I have merged therapeutic skills with writing. My background as a therapist allows me to utilize therapeutic techniques to help pull the story out of individuals.
As a self-published author, I’m able to navigate new authors through the pitfalls of publishing. When clients come to me, they are provided with a roadmap to publishing. I’m providing a service that was not afforded to me as a newly published author.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m such a foodie. I love going to brunch or having dinner with my husband. My favorite dinner spot is Slater’s 50/50. My specialty menu is an Impossible Burger on a Hawaiian Roll with Sweet Potatoe Fries. Yummy for sure!
For relaxation, I love going to the movies. You can catch a $5 movie special at any Regal Theater on a Tuesday.
For dessert, you can visit the Purple Penguin for a snow cone. My favorite is a mix of orangesickle flavor with vanilla ice cream at the bottom. Pick your size, Pick your flavor, and Pick your Ice Cream.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, my faith has led me to places that I would not be able to go on my own. In the past, I didn’t see myself as an author until it happened. I was afraid to dream big. God opened many doors for me. I became bigger than my eyes could imagine. After becoming a published author, I started my own publishing company to help women become authors of their own stories.
In the natural sense, I have girlfriends that have championed for me along the way. India Porter pushed me to write beyond my comfort zone. Joylynn Ross is my mentor and powerhouse. I had the privilege of attending her workshops to learn about the literary world. Her guidance has ushered me to go harder.
