We had the good fortune of connecting with Coley Faircloth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coley, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
A tenacious work ethic and a will to win. No matter how I feel on any particular day I force myself to do whatever it takes to get us to the next level.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is a “Lifestyle Brand with a Cause!” Grateful Diver is an apparel brand that was built off of a logo created by one of the founding members of the Grateful Dead. We set out to build the coolest brand out there and to do it with a mission to preserve and protect the Florida Keys Barrier Reef! We took that original logo, which is a Grateful Dead lightning bolt inside of a dive flag, and turned it into a brand by creating a whole catalog of designs. We like to live our lives outdoors so we primarily focus on performance shirts and hats but there are some other accessories in the lineup as well. A portion of all of our sales benefits an environmental non-profit down in Key West called Reef Relief. That’s our way of giving back. We’ve also launched a sister brand called Grateful Angler with the same mission that we’re in the process of building out. We have an incredible team of like minded individuals who care deeply about the environment and our cause. It’s a pleasure to get to work with them every day.

Not only does the brand have a purpose but it’s really cool too. We have some very creative and unique art and we use extremely high quality products so they can stand up to the elements. We’ve been able to grow the footprint of the brand to not just South Florida but to Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands as well! We’re really hoping to continue that momentum and just continue to grow. The bigger we get, the more we can give back! That’s the goal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in the Keys it’s all about being on the water. We would get out and dive the worlds 3rd largest living barrier reef as well as some of the many shipwrecks we have down here. Jumping on a paddle board to check out the beautiful mangrove tunnels is also a must! So is relaxing out on the sand bars. We’d probably finish things off with happy hour at some of the marina bars and tiki bars. You know, enjoy the best of what the Keys has to offer!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It might sound cliche but I want to give a shoutout to my parents. They are both people who will leave a lasting impression on this world by the good they do for others. That inspired me to try and do something great that would also have a lasting impact. That’s what our brand is built on. Trying to do some good in this world.
