We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey Jacques and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacey, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We aren’t just lucky…we are blessed.
Everyone would probably agree that hard work, dedication and a passion for what you do are very inportant factors to attaining success, but Tyler and I truly believe the key to our growing business lies in our faith and our follow through of God’s plan for us.
We started crafting with horseshoes in 2013 as a fun way to decorate our home. After sharing photos of something my husband made for me, friends and family were asking if they could purchase their own horseshoe decor. Based on this feedback, we decided to attend some local events to showcase our creations and eventually we began selling online to reach a larger audience.
Although we opened our Etsy shop 10 years ago, we didn’t have adequate work space to produce items in a timely manner. My husband would set up his anvil and tools in the aisle of our leased barn, but it needed to be cleaned up and removed when he was done and he couldn’t work once the horses were brought in to their stalls for the evening. As you can imagine this was time consuming and not very practical.
We prayed for years that eventually we would be able to purchase this place because not only was it a beautiful home to our beloved horses, but it had a free-standing building that we were super eager to access. In 2017 our prayers were answered and we were blessed with the opportunity to buy the property! We would now be able to live out our personal dream of having our horses in our yard AND we could finally expand to create a permanent work space where we could organize our materials and Tyler could be there any time of the day or night. This would prove to be a game changer down the road.
In 2020 as a result of the pandemic, I was furloughed from my day job and knew we had to do something to compensate for our new financial struggle. At a time when things were so uncertain for everyone, God once again provided a way. I now had lots of extra time on my hands and I made it my mission to revamp our online presence and to expand our product options. In just a couple of months, we went from receiving only a few orders to hundreds by the end of 2020 and it has continued to grow each year since.
YES, we worked harder than ever, YES we displayed immense dedication (we reply to messages and calls round the clock) and YES we remained passionate about what we do, but we always credit God first and foremost for the huge blessing that has become Lucky American Designs.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Our authentic horseshoe keepsakes are handmade by Tyler Jacques in our backyard workshop located in Davie, FL. They are perfect for any occasion: weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, baby showers, housewarmings, retirements, corporate gifts or just a fun way to add a little luck to your own home! The horseshoes can be customized with names and dates or other special information for a truly personal touch. These items are appreciated by horse lovers and “non-country folks” alike.
Our original business name was Country Creations, but in 2022 we decided to rebrand with something that better reflects who we are and what we offer– horseshoe decor made in the US — and that was when we proudly became Lucky American Designs.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a huge fan of the outdoors and nature, so if anyone came to visit our area I’d definitely take them to some of the beautiful parks we have nearby. My favorite is Tree Tops Park in Davie. There are beautiful horse trails and nature trails to explore.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Aside from the credit we give to God for blessing us immensely with our small business success, I want to thank my incredibly talented, hard working husband and business partner, Tyler. None of this would be possible without him.
