We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I have a daughter, Grace. From an early age I found it important to show her the value of true communication. This meant that when difficult situations arose that they would not be swept under the carpet but held up into the light of day, so that we could deal with it. This held true from her early days at school to today (she is now 23) and has fostered a relationship that is built on rock, not sand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a professional photographer for 33 years specializing in architecture. design and fine art and in particular the way those three disciplines interact. I am most proud of my unique eye and have spent considerable time and effort honing my vision. Clients hire me because they know I’m going to see a project from a different point of view – one that is based on intuition more than intellect – a fresh take from a different perspective. The journey has been challenging and at times difficult, but never boring. Persistence, patience and the cultivation of a certain degree of emotional intelligence have all been essential. When failure comes along, I immediately recognize that there is something to be learned and quickly turn the disappointment around by doing something that I find difficult, such as calling a curator or architect I’d like to work with (I have a phobia of the telephone, so these things are difficult for me). This practice brings back my confidence and whatever the failure was is transformed into positive action.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lunch at PAMM, sitting outside in Miami’s outdoor living room, then onto the Planetarium at the science museum to experience ‘Dark side of the moon’ – then onto Anthony’s Pizza in North Miami for dinner. A visit to the Wolfsonian Museum and a nice cappucino in the restaurant there and then onto Haulover boat ramp to rent a boat – off to Boca Chita to visit the lighthouse and then around to Stiltsville where hopefully there might still be a party or two thrown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would dedicate my success to my wife, Cindy who has supported my dreams and encouraged me along the way. Her courage and bravery are a constant source of inspiration for me and she has been my rock and compass.
