Meet Rene Cedeno | Restorative and Cosmetic Dentist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rene Cedeno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rene, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As I was growing up my parents had their own business. It was what I was familiar with and knew, so of course I had to follow in their footsteps as business owners

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been in private practice for over 24 years. I always wanted to have my own dental office and provide the best care to my patients. It is a mom and pop office as I like to refer to it. I know all of my patients by name and they feel like family to me. There are patients that I have seen when they were children and now they are parents themselves. This makes me very happy. I see one patient at a time and give them the time that they need. We take pride in this.
In dental school you learn about teeth and not anything about business practices. It has been a learning process to administer the office. Sometimes we made mistakes with the business ins and outs, learned and grew from it. The important thing is to never give up. This is a motto I live by. No matter what it is, or how difficult it is or even if I think there is no solution insight, I keep going. It is not an option. I will always pulls through.
I would like for people to know that I truly love what I do. Dentistry brings me much happiness when I see a patient that has struggled with their mouth issues and now has a new outlook with a new smile; it gives me purpose. I can make a difference in someone’s life or I can take someone out of pain. This is something very special. I feel very privileged.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Miami, I would definitely have to take them to the important and popular places such as Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Wynwood, Downtown/ Brickell area, Calle Ocho, Everglades and maybe down to the Keys. If they want to feel like a tourist, we can take bus tour or a water tour to see the stars’ homes by Star Island, visit museums as Perez Art Museum and the Rubell Musuem , go to interactive shows as Superblue or the Van Gogh experience. Definitely go shopping at Dadeland Mall, villages at Merrick Park and Bal Harbour shops, pass by Calle Ocho and see Domino Park. While at Calle Ocho, we need to eat at Versailles Restaurant to get a taste of Miami’s cuban culture and Azucar ice cream. Other places would be Arbetter hot dogs, Shorty’s BBQ, Hard Rock Miami, and Los Ranchos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my mother! Although she has already passed, she was my cheerleader since day one. Always believed in me and was there through all the hardships of dental school and starting private practice. Behind my mother is my wife and daughters. They have been there through all the challenges and easy times. I really could not have done it without them.
