We had the good fortune of connecting with Javier Rojas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javier, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting our own business was that beautiful, rare plants will bring smiles to families across the USA. Growing up in Colombia we used to grow most of the vegetables and fruit that we ate. Growing our own plants gave us a connection to nature and formed our love of growing plants. Our business focuses on rare, colorful, and collector plants. We sell some of the most unique and rare plants on the planet.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We sell rare, exotic plants that are highly sought out by our diverse customers in South Florida and across the United States. We are proud to offer competitive pricing so people of all socio-economic classes can enjoy the love of nurturing their own plants. In the beginning days of GoPlant it was not as easy as we thought it would be. We have learned so much since 2021, such as dedicated research to care for our diverse inventory of plants and always having transparent communication with our clients. We are not just selling goods, we are continuously supporting our clients across the USA with their plant care.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have visitors I love to show them new experiences and cultures that South Florida has to offer. Some of the Fort Lauderdale favorites include restaurants, bars and shopping on Las Olas Blvd, brunch by the beach, Latin food in Oakland Park and the night life in Himmarshee and Wilton Manors. The Brightline train is always a go-to for visitors, to take a quick ride to Miami and have lunch in Brickell or Wynwood. We would also visit some of the numerous botanical gardens for a relaxing day with nature, the Bonnet House and Vizcaya gardens are my favorite.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to recognize my amazing husband, Eric, for always supporting me and GoPlant! He motivated me to start my own business and to make it something I like to do. When we sell at events he assists with set up, answering customer questions and bagging orders. Without his help and encouragement, the business would not be what it is today.
