We had the good fortune of connecting with Madeline Elizabeth, MS, CHES and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madeline, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want people to feel inspired, to feel loved, and to feel accepted. By themselves, by others, and by me. My goal is to create a place of inclusion and compassion. I hope that when people remember me, they remember how they felt around me, not necessarily what I do. My goal is to always leave people feeling better about themselves and the world after being with me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is the heart in my business. I never make money-driven decisions. I make decisions that help people, regardless of if that moves the needle forward. I genuinely believe that each individual has magic and fire within but it’s up to us to breathe that oxygen into the flame. For so long, I didn’t know how to keep the spark going and once I found my voice, started healing, and created my business, I knew that my mission was to help others find that little ember within.
It wasn’t easy. It still isn’t. But, it’s worth it every single day. I’ve learned that in today’s world, people need love and compassion. We need heart and emotion. I’ve used that to drive every decision.
I want the world to know who I am as a person. It’s so easy to get online and make business, life, and results look so easy but that’s not the reality. I want others to know the work I’m putting in so they know that they aren’t alone. I want people to read/hear my poetry and feel every hard emotion so that they can know how possible it is to work through it all. I want the world to know that in this crazy world, there is a pocket of safety in my community and all are welcome, always.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not a “going out girly”, I love keeping things low-key. We would definitely hit up the best (and cutest) coffee shops, find the local yoga studios, hit the beach, and find fun, health-conscious places to eat. I wouldn’t overly pack an itinerary. I would just hang out and enjoy the vibes around me and definitely would be in bed early!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely Brené Brown. When I first started my healing and self-love journey, I didn’t know where to turn and who to look to. In one of my graduate classes, I was required to listen and read some of Brown’s work and I was hooked from the first few minutes. It was a new world of being allowed to understand and process emotions, something I was never really taught. I’m forever grateful for her work. She has not only inspired who I am and my business, but has empowered me to do hard things like get up on stage and speak, open up my creativity, and lean into hard conversations.
