Meet Mac McAliley | Sofubi Toy Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mac McAliley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mac, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success and my brand success has to be keeping it original yet eye catching. Be different than others and the best way to do that is be yourself no one can copy that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With my art, I combine nature and horror I believe which sets me apart from others is that all of my art is original and has tons of detail. I have quite a few different characters Fungusting who is the horrible killer mushroom, Thiccgusting who is more of chibi big booty mushroom. This one’s a little more fun in and silly with a touch of terror to it., The Seer which is an ancient shaman type of creature of the forest. And my next figure coming up Tuskarian which is the biggest figure I ever created who is a walrus champion warrior who battles big Kaijus. Creating sofubi was a difficult task just because you’re trying to break the norm and not be like everybody else so I think in that aspect that would be the hardest part. For the lessons that I learned are you know take it slow be patient you don’t have to rush and do everything at once go slow and when you do release figures or Artwork you know it takes time for people to find you and discover you, but it will come just keep at it and always remember why you do it. Passion for the creativity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Would have to take them to Hutong Miami for the best Chinese cuisine, then on over to south beach for some snorkeling/reading on the beach. And of course one of my favorite spots in Florida The Morikami Japanese Gardens in West Palm Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shout out to the sofubi and toy collecting community! Without them I wouldn’t be doing any of this. Special shout out to a amazing creator Wonder Goblin who really inspired me to become a Sofubi creator.
