We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Stone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business was started on accident and out of circumstances. I had a critically ill toddler and we spent most of our days living in the hospital in Tampa wondering how I was going to pay for these insane medical bills, and was able to obtain my insurance license. On our journey back and forth to the ICU I discovered other parents with the same worries and started helping them as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was Florida Chair for several organization for Health Care Reform, agent compensation pay, several other political and industry related legislation in Capital Hill.

I have always had a passion to fight for affordable health care and disability rights. The lessons I have learned is it is possible to move mountains but an inch at a time. Politics change all the time, I hear “not now” instead of No. This has kept me on my path to fight injustice for disabled people and advocate for parents of special needs children.

I would like the world to consider that parents and caretakers of critically ill children need support and mental healthcare.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Make A Wish Foundation, Special Olympics and My best friend and business mentor Kena Yoke who has talked to me every morning for over 13 years.
